Both Pivot and Evil frames are, or were as of 2020, made in Myanmar at a place called Very Impressive Prospect Co., Ltd (VIP). Allegedly the factory workers tried to unionize and the labor leader was stabbed by goons. https://globalmayday.net/2020/10/18/myanmar-union-busting-at-sporting-g…

The whole gearbox/belt moment right now is solely due to a massive decline in sponsorship of the traditional bike industry. Gates has been huge enough for decades to make their pitch… Shimano and Sram clearly aren’t capitalized well enough to fight them anymore, due to poor pandemic vision and blowing so much money on useless electronics, but the science on belts v chains is pretty clear. Belts suck for the low power applications we see in cycling, and they are super duper draggy, and generally horrible to live with. Anyone who has ever worked on any belt driven bicycle will...

Thank you for posting this. Too many people are using a racing rumors thread to talk crap on Kerr. It's also pretty sexist and BS that people are talking crap on Jenna when she works incredibly hard at her craft and has the speed. Can we move on from this please?

I might be completely wrong but have Santa Cruz given up on Juliana Bicycles? They don't seem to offer many models anymore and the Roubion is still the older version of the bronson.

For those playing along at home, here’s where we stand with the most ridiculous rumors so far… #3 - Phoebe Gale off FMD, going to Reece Wilson’s new AON team, after being prominently featured in the Orbea FMD press release. #2 - Aaron Gwin back to mentor the kids on lower budget Trek Factory after becoming a partner in Crestline bikes last year. #1 - Old man Dan Atherton returning to stomp $$$ DH podiums on a prototype belt drive after his most recent 57th at a 2018 Crankworx stop. There’s a few others close to the top 3, but...

Not trying to be a dick, but what makes you think this is an Orbea? IIRC, the pivot hardware is similar to what transition uses and it has ANVL stuff.

And its so wicked to see people showing our NZ riders love on the world stage. Blenki , Wyn Eddie and Brook have been instrumental in building NZs mountain bike scene into what it is today. They always showed up and pushed our national series will be sad to see em go.

What about everyone's favorite racer/interviewer, Wyn? Last year he made lots of posts about "his last" Did he retire? I havent seen anything published on that. His profile still says GT factory racing, but uh... that seems to be a no go. Anyone know whats up there?

If you think a World Cup team like FMD are going to risk an entire season on some old prototype frames from canyon or specialized you have been smoking that crack again.

Catching up on the thread and not to pile on to said dead horse but there is info out there for Athertons (bikes, racing, trees, etc) if you're so inclined. Some interesting reading if you're @jeff.brines geeky. For the record, I like what they're doing, am a big fan, and hope to add one of their bikes to my garage later this year. The rumor here in Kamloops is that We Are One has been sold to industry 9. Which explains why they have stop making bikes and there DH program is cancelled as well.

Danny Hart's GT Fury caught a lot of attention this past World Cup season as it had some notable structural frame modifications to increase compliance. Dale, Danny's mechanic, is a veteran frame engineer and had some great ideas on how to fine tune Danny's bike to work best for his style and to eke out the literal hundreths of a second needed to win races. If you haven't seen these mods, check out this quick section of Vital's PIT BITS video here. Let's dig into each modification. This will be extra fun because I was fortunate enough to be the...

From an industry perspective Enduro is almost ubiquitous for a few reasons: 1. They offer a lot of bicycle-specific sizes that can be very hard (and relatively expensive) to source elsewhere. They are one of the few suppliers with a wide range of max complement small bearings. Max complement is a big improvement in load capacity for the specific use case of suspension pivots (high dynamic load, low rotation speeds). 2. They are well known and have lots of international support for people replacing bearings. Go try replacing all the bearings on a Pivot Firebird with NTN equivalents. You might...

Blenki might not have had a WC result for a while but he’s winning at something. For better or worse the Warner Bros deal really feels like it’s ushering in the end of a classic era for DH.

Definitely agree on making some speculations at this point! Smile About your Atherton Bikes statement: I am able to go to checkout if I have chosen a fitting frame size. Maybe what you are experiencing is a US thing? Regarding the rumor mill for 2025: Still heard that BMC will stop the Scor "project"
