5/29/2025 7:51am Can I patent the ole one eye squint? For real tho, equalizing the gap on each side between the sanctions and bars is way easier than aligning the stem with the tire.

5/27/2025 6:29am
Race Face has been making quality flat pedals for a while now, with the 2nd generation of their Atlas model holding down a respectable if not spectacular position in our flat pedal rankings . Those rankings are in for a shake-up now though, as Race Face has recently introduced an all-new pedal that boasts some seriously impressive numbers and delivers an incredibly locked-in performance out on the trails. This is the 2025 Turbine. Race Face Turbine Flat Pedal Highlights Chromoly steel axle Inboard bushing, outboard bearing 6061 aluminum body, steel pins Platform concavity: 3 mm Platform thickness: 20 mm...

5/23/2025 11:32am There are most definitely more issues. There is a change in LAW and regulation moving forward of the EU using Eitas system more accurately tracking visitors days. (no more hoping the border agent gives up counting all your days with the multitude of entry/exit stamps in your passport. There is a change with having more World Cups in this calendar year. There is a change this year in scheduling in having more "inconvenient" (from a travel logistics perspective) one week gaps. There is a change in the level of professionalism and pressure in results from the top World Series teams...

5/23/2025 11:32am For the media it is even more difficult another 4 (28 days) stand alone EDR World Cups. Although a few are on those "week off" dates.

5/19/2025 6:56am Couldn't that just be indications of tightening direction and torque spec? Fairly common on many linkage bolts across brands.

5/14/2025 2:35pm Another thing that people don't understand- if something gets leaked before bike shops know whats coming, they can have lots of product on the floor that lose considerable value as soon as a photo is posted, as everyone will want to wait for the newnew or expect discounts. It's already hard being a bike shop owner, and some of this deleting is actually best for the industry in the long run. heavily influenced by Escapee Collectives discussions on this topic and embargos

5/12/2025 4:24pm Hey I'm back (with Rocky). I might post a bit less here as I navigate current state of the bike industry; I've got a mountain of work to get through after being away from it all for 5 months. Thanks for the well wishes.

5/5/2025 10:51am You have to match the cassette and chain. You will not be happy running a Sram chain on a Shimano cassette unfortunately. I have run the Shimano chain/cassette with Sram shifter/RD and loved it. Best value IMO is XT 12 spd. Clutch can be adjusted and shifting just works. Sram manages their product differentiation by tolerances in the RD. Just go into a shop and push the bottom of the RD cage back and forth on an XX1 vs lower level equipment and you will see what I mean. Shimano does something similar, but theirs is more about durability. XT...

5/5/2025 9:05am How about some specifics? What cassettes on what hubs? I've run XT and XTR Microspline cassettes on Race Face Vault and Industry Nine Hydra hubs with nary an issue. Zero marring on any of them.

5/5/2025 9:02am Micro-spline was supposed to be Shimano's solution to the aluminum versions their older HG drivers getting eaten by cassettes. What's failing on Micro-spline?

4/25/2025 12:51pm Sorry KP, I should have specified in my somewhat facetious, off-the-cuff comment that I was talking about complete bikes! Fixed now! I will also add that on the shop end we saw significant degradation in the 40-50% P&A margin across a lot of brands and categories over the last 10 years. Most things stayed in that range but a number of top seller products and brands saw those margins shrink across the board. We'd see stuff like our bread and butter basic pedal remain the same MSRP YOY but have the margin shrink to account for inflation. Same with our...

4/15/2025 4:03am I'm going to throw my hat into the ring. "Proportional chainstays" are a marketing gimmick the way that the brands are currently using the term, with the exception of maybe forbidden. How proportional the rear center length is to the front center is 100% relative and not defined. What most people seem to talk about when it comes to "proportional chainstays" is the ballance between front wheel grip and rear wheel grip, or more accurately the weight distribution between the front wheel and the rear wheel. On level ground, a 100 kg rider on a bike with a 440 mm...
