Although I'm a sucker for all the latest rumors and innovation on the tech-front (which in between chainstay length discussion sometimes occur in this thread), as a company it just sucks whenever people decide to leak stuff willingly. There's people doing their best to create marketing & launch campaigns around new products, and most of the time go to great lengths to make sure it doesn't get public before. (Yes if you as a brand decide to go to Crankworx with an unreleased product it's up to you...) Usually there's a slew of NDA's signed, and more often than not...

So your friend just jams in a hub that is 9mm wider than the chainstays are designed for? What shop does he work at? Just so I can make sure I never go there.

If two people can comfortable hit it and it comes with a huge time advantage it gets to the point that the entire field has to take massive risks to be competitive. The Jr's are just that, Jr's. They are not professionals and outside of a very select few I bet most are not getting a paycheck. Closing one feature will have zero effect on the racing for the weekend...... Having to chopper a rider or two off the course during practice will have a big effect on everyones race weekend.

@Jason_Schroeder What stood out to me was Dak saying that you have to work for the power on a Shimano brake when we have the reputation for having an on/off feel. One thing that's different about just about every pro bike is that they cheat out the pistons to get a super quick bite point. I don't remember specifically if the Mondraker mechanics said they were doing this but when I've polled teams in the past it was near 100%. Because the servo-wave is meant to quickly move through a lot of free stroke (relative to our super wide pad...

The X2? You mean the shock that every bike company and their mother spec’ed on their misaligned trunion mount bike that had about as much frame alignment as a couple of soggy noodles. Not saying I didn’t have issues with that shock (I blew up three of them) but as it turns out the bike I had it on ate pretty much every shock I stuck on it (3 x2 and 2 EXTs). I don’t want to absolve any company from making shit, I really don’t. But at least in the suspension word everyone I can think of and ridden...

Yup! A huge amount of the x2 problems were the fault of the frame, they just had the unfortunate luck of being species on a ton of bad trunnion bikes. Same things happened to the 1st gen dB inline (specialized....) and 2019 DVO (giant) maybe those products weren't perfect but they got a huge amount of bad press because of the bikes they came in. Maybe I'm in the minority of suspension guys but I go out of my way to not trash too.many products publicly, and I also don't have 1 brand I think is the best and everyone...

Long story short, Mr. Robot is right, the fork is really good, like really really good. Tried to burp a little air out of the fork and got a little oil on my rotor but other than that, setup was straight forward and I am happy.

I'm honestly considering buying one to do my own little test on my uber tiny YouTube channel, just cause I'm a spaz, but for those questioning Charlie's integrity I am 1000% sure he'd call it out as being a let down if indeed it was. Is it a massive leap forward in suspension performance? I think we all know the answer to that. Same-ish damper. Same-ish air spring. Same seals (as a 36). Yes, bushings are better/overlap better/different chassis. But guys at the EWS level aren't bolting this to their bike and going oodles faster (but not slower, it appears...

It is indeed a noble old UoM, my point however, Dear Sir Robot, still stands - Shimano would have no way of even relating to the concept of doing something on a whim, even if they were linguistically in full command of the meaning and significance of the term. 😃

Good feedback everyone. I do agree that DD's feel nice, but the sidewall support is more or less the same as EXO+. I'm relieved to find out I'm not crazy. I'm going to continue trying out the DD's with inserts for my ebike, and see if I can get through the year on the reserve AL/HD hoop that I have on it without murdering it. I typically murder 1 ex511/reserve AL-HD per year, so that wouldn't be pretty standard. I think it's time to bite the bullet and just go to DH casing rear tires for my enduro bike and...

If you are going to compare apples to apples then it would be mechanical systems. There is no way a GX mechanical system is anywhere close to the quality of XT. GX AXS derailleur is garbage, no clutch, poor durability, clunk and loud. XO transmission for the past two years of using has been problematic. Instead of having influencers standing derailleurs for marketing value shimano had riders hit derailleurs off rocks. More real world scenarios. When I did this with XO transmission the p-knuckle spring bent. Replacement of pknuckle and cage was $230 with an XX unit being the only...
