10/13/2024 7:14pm I think this is mostly right. Gravity fans are not the market that the owners/broadcasters of Rampage are trying to attract. We're watching already, and there aren't enough of us to make it pay. They want the couch dwellers and internet surfers and any other eyeball they can grab, and the strategy to grab them is to make a big spectacle. That means tricks and amplitude. Brendog was robbed, again, but it was hardly a surprise.

10/12/2024 10:24pm The sport of freeri... "Stolenride" is dead. But you know what? We're not the target audience anyway... Haven't been for a couple of years as far as I can tell? The marketing money is after couch dwellers wanting spectacle. The people who created the sport or event are irrelevant, the money (and it is only the money that the corporate's are interested in) is in them not us. We are just the creative cannon fodder for their profit and loss spreadsheet. And the spectacle they want for that market is slopestyle meets "Death Race 2000".

10/12/2024 9:44pm Brandon Semenuk being originally a slopestyle athlete and taking wins, at a suppose to be freeride big mountain competition like its nothing, then there is something to be said about the judging/rules to the event. Its like it has an identity crisis. Fix your problem RedBull.

10/12/2024 3:40pm Well at least the Women’s was a good watch. After that bs score I am done watching. It’s clear all they care about is Slopestyle on 4’ wide highways

10/12/2024 12:08pm Dear Jefferson Budweiser McNuggets Jr. - There's already enough bikes parts to choose from. Brembo is already grounded in Powersports, as is Öhlins. Öhlins just happens to invest time w/ a few Manufacturers and Teams in Bicycling. Every merger from outside of this Industry is not an open invitation to get bloated. Flipside is your next post complaining how smaller niche supplier who knows 'the 'gram' went tits up due to 'the induhstry.

10/11/2024 11:26am I'll also add, there's so much dogma in the bike industry, you can't do X because it has such bad Y...etc. We're not totally impervious to this thinking, but with this project we made it a point to actually test these assertions and sort fact from fiction. An example, from the start I felt we had to do a 20mm axle because everyone says so, it was Darren that commented how much it sucks to get a new fork and then realize your wheel doesn't work with it. So we tested and found the diameter has much less influence compared...

10/11/2024 11:26am I am in the engineering department at Push, and we're all big fans of the Vital community! - Matt I guess I should prefaced that manufacturing comment, before I get the "my buddy owns a casting shop and ..." 😂 So for starters there aren't many magnesium casting suppliers in the US (probably because of safety issues 🔥) but funny enough there is one just down the street from us. The problem with most US manufacturers is size, difficulty, volume, and capacity all have to align before they are interested in any new work. In my experience this is fundamentally...

10/10/2024 11:23am The lower leg casting price seems to me little overblown issue, if formula as relatively small manufacturer can sell complete lowers for 160euros, I don't think it's that crazy. I know part of it is they share lowers between multiple forks but overall numbers still must be fraction of what RS produces yet lowers for lyrik or pike cost almost double.

10/9/2024 12:48pm The biggest problem with hexloc was consumers complete inability to understand how to remove their axle despite being demonstrated live and in front of their face several times. I can't see a company like Fox adopting it because even though it provides superior stiffness at the same weight, customers are too stupid to make it work. Source: the utter misery of selling bikes that came stock with hexloc axles.
