Somehow emtbs are going in a direction a lot of us figured they’d go from the start. It is more and more about the motor and the battery and less and less about the „bike“ part. They might be fun, they might be fast. But to me it seems more and more like two different sports. With those new torque numbers, it seems rather dubious (ridiculous) to talk of assistance. Maybe the rider assisting the motor, but not the other way around. Not even world class sprinters come close to outputting what a full power Avinox or Bosch is doing...

I think they are saying they are completely separate so they don't appear to have a conflict being a motor supplier and a bike brand. I suspect the ties are much closer than they want out in the public.

My L Wild weighs 22 kgs/ 48.6#s (verified on 2 scales) with all the things ready to ride, dual coil suspension, dual DH wheels, dual DH tires, 220/ 200mm e-bike rotors, electronic shifting and 200mm AXS dropper. That said, I curated the build very carefully to my needs but really the only WW thing I have is an 11 speed cassette. It's doable. I only have a 600wh battery however, which was my preference. If I had chosen trail tires, a stock Mezzer, the stock Float X, high end trail wheels or even Berds, & a OneUp dropper it would...

Frameworks 32-Inch Testing Neko Mulally is racing a Frameworks with a 32" front wheel and 29" rear wheel for Sea Otter downhill. He says he's been riding a bit back at home and had to purchase the front tire online (1 of 2 that he could find). He's surprised by the traction but did indicate that if it broke free, it broke free without warning. He was able to cram in a 29" rear wheel despite the rear triangle being made for 27.5. Hope HB.912 Hope’s new HB.912 trail bike looks awfully sleek. 120mm rear wheel travel, 130mm fork, four-bar linkage, and in-house-made frame. Definitely one of those bikes that can fly under the radar, but the longer you look at it, the more you appreciate it. The bike should be available closer to summer, with the frameset starting at ~$5,400 USD.

I generally want to know if brands have any plans to improve long-term support on their products - especially anything electronic and electric motors. Are any of them planning on building a platform with a motor that can be repaired or upgraded/replaced over time? And are they going to be locked to an app that can disappear in a few years, or do they have EOL plans that let you keep using them as long as you want once its been discontinued? Avinox seems to be doing the drop-in upgrade part of that, but long term mechanical and app support...

I don't want to come off as angry or pretentious, but I find what's going on with Avinox and the Spesh "class 2" emtb disgusting. I'm curious how the people at traditional bike companies feel about what they're helping proliferate into our world for all of the people who created and maintain the trails (mostly volunteers like myself) to contend with. How conflicted are they? Between the general financial malaise in the industry, 32" wheels nobody truly seems excited about, and the unprincipled embrace of avivox/DJI/amflow, what is general morale like? Conversely, and assuming everyone there isn't also yelling at...
