Of all the hills people want to die on in this industry, I think brake fluid is probably the stupidest one......

My guess is 90% for manufacturing as you can't cast a blind undercut geometry like that. You need the tooling to form the cavity and pull away in the direction of the cap.

I guess Shimano is going to be the big loser from today's Avinox fiesta. If they don't launch a new motor soon they will lose a massive amount of their remaining market share.

I'd be curious to hear from some of the industry people in this forum about what is, by my estimation, one of the weirdest release days I have seen since being interested in MTB. From the outside it seems like DJI placed an embargo on press releases/ forced brands into a certain launch window. I count eight Avinox M2S bike launches on Pinkbike. Surely this is frustrating for the manufacturers? Their bikes are being lost in sea of press releases for bikes that tout the exact same ground breaking tech. Seems like a marketing nightmare to have your product made...

And poor Kona trying to release a backpacking hardtail on this day. I guess they didn't get the memo.

Not sure where to put this, and frankly a little bummed it's not already on the main page. Laurie Greenland posted a vid about what he's up to and hinted about future projects and sponsors. Stoked for the guy.

If they are claiming that the platform supports the shoe, how can they ensure that plus ensure reliable clipping in?

Troy 6th vs Henri’s 10th overall in 2025 seems to contradict that thought.

I've heard that Privateer is more or less mothballed at this point, but Hunt Wheels are still on-going. In case anyone wants to dip in, their latest financials are available here. They only cover up to September 2024. While I'm posting, thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. It's a really interesting read.

Huge cushcore fan and user here. Absolutely must have a Cushcore pro in rear wheels otherwise I will destroy them. The tire support for cornering is a nice benefit. I think I like the damped feel too, but that's definitely not the main reason I run them. I used to go through multiple rear wheels a year before Cushcore, which got really old. As others have mentioned, when I take a used Cushcore Pro insert out of my rear tire, it's completely knackered, covered in knife slits from the rim, which leads me to believe it's really doing it's job...

Arc’teryx is in a very different position to most brands entering MTB, and the current numbers make it clear why they can afford to treat it as a fringe category without pressure. They sit inside the Technical Apparel segment of Amer Sports, which also owns Salomon, Wilson Sporting Goods and Atomic. That group context matters because it brings scale, shared sourcing, and a long track record of operating across multiple technical categories. Looking at FY25, the business is moving fast. Total revenue hit $6.57B, up 27%. Technical Apparel alone grew 30% to $2.86B, with 19% omni-comp growth. That tells you...

In regard to front axles and stiffness of inverted forks, the angular deflection of a shaft is defined as θ=(T*L)/(J*G). The key variables for axles are J (polar moment of inertia since we're talking about circles) and G (shear modulus of the material). J for a circular cross section is J(r1,r2)=(π*((r1^4)-(r2^4)))/2 where r1 is the OD and r2 is the ID (zero if solid). As for G, the shear modulus of steel is approximately 3x that of aluminum. Now for a comparison between 15 and 20 mm axles... Lets say we have a solid 15 mm axle and want to...
