5/26/2026 1:57pm Forgot: Imagine if electronic suspension blinked a red light or sent a message to your phone when it is being ridden way off (in sag for example), maybe some riders could be swayed to at least set sag right. (rebound etc could be automatically) adjusted.

5/26/2026 1:53pm I find bracketing useful - to understand what an adjuster/variable does on a fork or a shock. They don‘t always do what it says on the knob. Or do what they say, but at the same time also influence something else. To get a feeling, bracketing is immensely useful. Coarse bracketing can work even for beginners. Open the rebound all...

5/17/2026 8:12am Well, I guess I’d love to ride the new Tallboy and then decide, how the move to a new system tastes. The best feature imho of the VPP with a solid rear triangle was that all bearings were located in the rocker. Changing them was a breeze and there was no risk of damaging the carbon frame in the process...

5/15/2026 11:28pm Didn‘t know that one, looked it up and man, that will give me (as a European) something to ponder for a couple of days. Especially in this economy and regarding the purchase of bike parts
And yes, I find this very bike-relevant, even though it touches on politics. Taiwan being relevant for many of the parts in this thread...

5/14/2026 4:54am Don't feel bad. Life is political. Politics isn't some small aspect of existence that can be sequestered into a couple days just before elections. It is literally everywhere all the time having huge impacts on people's lives. Bike materials are political. Trail access is political. The ability to afford a bike - and therefore the folding or flourishing of the mountain bike industry - is political. The existence of rural hospitals is political. Ebike motors are political. The efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics is political. Is there any sort of innovation in that lane brands should be looking...

5/12/2026 10:53pm There is a little predicament in the Persian Gulf that that means the hunger for recycled plastic has skyrocketed. Ironically, the moron-in-chief is going to make electric cars, recycling and efficiency a lot more economically attractive in the land of freedumb.

5/7/2026 3:09am Over here I see more Nomads than Megas. I tried the new Nomad and it feels great, but if there was an equivalent Megatower 3 I‘d pick/buy the Mega without hesitation…

5/5/2026 12:34am I am fine with 12spd Eagle X01 durability, except for the clutches. Although I always liked Shimano I wasn‘t blown away by their 12spd mtb stuff. What absolutely amazes me is their 11spd Linkglide XT! I have 10.000km on my first cassette and second chain, now it is worn, but it still doesn‘t miss a single shift. I never even...

4/27/2026 6:54am An entry hole near the headset, where, when the bars are turned far enough, the brake-line will be sheared off? :D Sounds like a perfect feature/improvement for the folks who ripped their rear brake hoses back when Spesh routed them loosely below the down tube. (MAN I am OLD) (just making fun here, don´t sue me)

4/22/2026 9:50pm I‘d take more flex all the time compared to too stiff. But, I tend to prefer more natural, rooty, rocky trails compared to cleaner bikepark style trails, however, I am not crazy heavy and middle aged with almost 30 mtb seasons on my joints. Flex means comfort, to some extent. And comfort means no pain, too stiff means less riding...

4/19/2026 12:11am I should have written „for a whole ride“. Your post sounds a bit harsh imho. ;-) And no doubt, there are people who ride their emtbs like regular bikes. And folks who can ride (again) because of emtbs. Cool! And I don’t even judge, as long as people enjoy emtbing, I am happy. Regular bikers can also be fun OR...

4/18/2026 11:58am Somehow emtbs are going in a direction a lot of us figured they’d go from the start. It is more and more about the motor and the battery and less and less about the „bike“ part. They might be fun, they might be fast. But to me it seems more and more like two different sports. With those new torque...

4/15/2026 11:25am Great to hear! I have a couple of burning questions: I‘d love to know if it fits bigger than older Santa Cruz models, because of the taller stack? The Nomad and Megatower run a bit small, compared to other size large bikes. The Bullit and Vala (and Hightower 4 maybe) are a tad bigger however. Reach numbers aren‘t longer on...

4/15/2026 10:29am Hey all, I can finally take off my very sneaky blue tape camouflage to reveal that yes, I’m reviewing the new Nomad. Because I’ve spent so many years on the old Megatower, I’m framing this as a Megatower vs. Nomad comparison. Especially interesting for me because of the rumors that the Megatower is going away and the new Nomad does not take 29” rear wheels. I only have a couple rides in on the new bike, but so far the geometry feels really good and the bike feels solid and stout. Weirdly I haven’t been able to figure out the...

4/12/2026 5:18am I‘ve been told from a source I think is credible that there will be no Megatower V3 this season.
