2/26/2025 11:57am what about applying it drunk the night before a ride, spilling half the lube on the floor then wiping the excess off the chain with a rag which is my current go to method?

2/25/2025 11:53am This is a fact. A bolted joint is essentially springs in parallel so you sum the stiffness of the aluminum portion of the joint and the stiffness of the bolt portion of the joint. Like anything, it can be done well or poorly. Fun fact, I know someone who was going car brakes and thought it would be fun to swap the steel bolts for titanium bolts. The titanium bolts were not as stiff and they started having issues with leaking due to the caliper halves separating under high pressure.

2/25/2025 11:41am Galfer makes Hope's pads IIRC... And to further muddy the waters, MTX makes aftermarket pads for Hope and their race compound pads are red...

2/25/2025 11:40am What if Oak Components (also a German brand with simolar looking levers) is starting to make their own brake?

2/25/2025 11:39am I first thought trickstuff as well, machining looks very nice, and the color of the pads looks like trickstuff power. But, there is a snapshot when he leans the bike over to the other side, and you can clearly see whatever Hope does when you can remove the pistons. And the banjo fitting on the caliper is the same as Hope uses, different from trickstuff. Also there are some adjustor screws on the levers which looks like what Hope usually does So im betting its some new updated hope version

2/25/2025 11:34am I’ve heard some of the older frames weren’t perfect, but mine is #465(A200) and I was blown away with how spot on the fitments and tolerances are. On the S200 I don’t believe the rear is 1 piece like mentioned above. I think they ment each side is once piece CNC machined. Looks like the half’s are bolted together.

2/25/2025 11:31am The rear triangle is actually 2 triangles then connected with a bridge its not 1. But you argument is bizarre, what happens when you bend/crack any VPP style rear triangle? Its not unique to Atherton. Also talking to some of the Dyfi guys, good luck breaking these bikes. The one thing I will say is their as indestructible as they come. Some of the trail crew got given the prototypes and they just said go destroy them, not a single one (to my knowledge) has failed.

2/25/2025 11:30am I've got a customer who ordered an A-series bike that I'll hopefully be helping build soon. One thing I didn't know was the customer is contacted and brought along through the whole build of every frame. He gets check in's from Atherton bikes every step of the way. To me, it seems to be taking a bit longer than I expected but it sounds like they're quiet busy. Interesting to see the customer side of what they're doing and it's pretty impressive to what I've seen from other custom builders.

2/25/2025 11:29am I would imagine the S200 will be marketed as a park/DH bike while the carbon will be the full on race bike. The gear box bike, if it sees production, would probably be offered as a second option or completely replace the carbon bike currently. Their manufacturing method sounds pretty lean which lets them be flexible. They don’t have molds for carbon frames that they are hoping to get X number of frames out of.

2/24/2025 2:38pm Don't quote me on this...but I think the Pinky Field Test mentioned that Transmission itself can only be used on the longer of the two chainstay lengths. I seem to recall it sounding like the UDH hanger works just fine in both positions but not the direct mount Transmission. Raaw also has an adjustable dropout if you use their dropout. They offer a UDH dropout but it's not adjustable. I haven't looked closely at Transmission (because I kind of don't care and I kind of don't want to want it; I'm happy with mechanical) so I'm not sure what the...

2/24/2025 2:34pm The ziptie the lever overnight trick works because of increased pressure (not vacuum). The pressure squeezes any air bubbles which allows them (being smaller) to more easily rise up past fluid in the hose. Conversely, bleeding with a vaccum may actually make the bubbles less likely to rise. Flicking the levers does something similar - shrinking the bubbles momentarily which can help them to detatch from the hose wall (and start moving or pass into the reservoir). IME the weakest link when trying to vacuum bleed a brake is where the barb on a bleed fitting goes into the clear...

2/21/2025 2:15pm This is the most mountain bike industry product ever. We are adding a tiny servo on the bottom of the dropper that limits insertion and also you have to charge it and pay $300 for it? For what to get ride of 2 feet of cable? Will the remote and electronics in the post be reliable? Maybe, will they be as reliable as a $2 shifter cable? No.
