agree on that. What Tippie offers is unique - closest I can think of is Wyn Masters. He's gonna go to a ton of events, bro down with the people, probably be on the mic, and always be the biggest presence in the room, no matter what room he's in. Norco could use him.

Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

So much hatred towards BK. I don't understand it. He does a lot for the sport, and his private relationships – which are discussed a lot here, and where everyone is entitled to their opinion, just like with sausage, politics and art – shouldn't really matter. fwiw, adam (the "money guy backer") was at the venue every day moving lumber, signs, cords, spray paint, dirt, tools, boxes etc. he was covered in dirt like all the crew, in addition to hosting riders for meals and gatherings at his home. he was anything but hands-off.

As I get older, I’ve come to really appreciate “culture” as a larger driving force than we tend to acknowledge. You can grab attention fast with a stunt, but lasting viewership takes time, many decades, for the underlying culture to mature. It has little to do with broadcast length, equipment, or announcers. I like bulldog, awesome rider and his comeback was inspiring. With that said, he has openly criticized multiple bike brands that he has ridden for. If I was a marketing manager for a bike company I would be reluctant to sign him with worries he would bash the bikes, calling them trash etc.

Team Rumor: I think Dak's video of him riding a Mondraker with Pinky is exactly the same thing as the Jake Jewett on a Pivot video posted last year around this time. No team rumor disclaimer. Baseball is a viable TV package. Hell, there was a World Series game the other night that went 18 innings and orders of magnitude more people watched the whole thing than watch DH. The length of the broadcast isn't what's keeping us from going mainstream, it's the bikes. The crucial number that I hope WBD are operating with is: "how many non-bikers watch The Tour". I’m gonna disagree. First off. No one is watching WC downhill that isn’t a huge fan of Mtbs already. Making the broadcast 30-60 minutes isn’t gonna change that. It’s hard to even find the broadcast if you are looking for it. No one is stumbling across it. So let’s not pretend making it shorter will bring in more fans. There is no continental series. They simply ask favors and string together a calendar from events that went thru the effort and cost to be uci events. Maybe that will change going forward but it does not seem to be their prerogative. also. More runs filmed and presented well is much better than full runs from both an entertainment and sporting perspective.

If the race is shorted too much you lose the build. WB don't capture the the full rums even when they have time to. For the most part I agree with that . Due to time differences I watch the races on replay and skip straight to the actual racing .From a purely viewer perspective I think the smaller field works . I obviously understand why riders would want more through to finals and I've heard people suggest you could have 40 in finals and only televise the top 20 but I'm not sure that would work and I doubt WB would be keen . Trouble is, with fewer riders on track come race day the more reason to not bother attending and the flatter the atmosphere becomes. So much talk about TV coverage, but it gets less and less appealing as a live spectator as numbers are cut. I've attended Fort Bill 3 times over the years, I'd already think twice now with reduced riders on track to watch.
