7/4/2025 4:34am These builds always perplex me. "Yeah, I definitely need a carbon frame on my DH bike... but the base model Boxxer and Vivid, and the MT520 brakes should be fine, right?"

7/2/2025 5:07am A combination of mathematica and 2D sketches in CAD. I write out all the equations using whichever variables I want to change and then use mathematica to solve them and generate plots. Conceptually all the equations are simple. I like doing it this way because it makes you really understand everything that's going on, it's quick to iterate dimensional changes, and I can come up with pretty much any metric I want if something out of the ordinary makes a comparison better. For example, those plots I posted about ramp in leverage curve vs ramp in damping force as you'd...

7/2/2025 5:00am I love trails, building them and riding them. I searched for a generic trail thread on here and didn't really find one, if I'm wrong and one exists feel free to delete this. I envision this as a thread to discuss general trail maintenance, routing discussions, land manager relationships, rogue trails, and all other things trail building. Post what you're working on if you're willing. I'll hopefully grab some pics soon of a jumpy little xc line I've been working on that I'm excited about.

7/1/2025 8:34am While I wouldn't be able to include racers outside of Finals where the data is contingent on their final time or rank, I've made a note to try and expand some of the other analyses out to see if I can include more racers. At the very least, I can publish simulated rank tables for the whole field. Maybe I will post these in the forum to not swamp the articles with long tables. Fun anecdote: in the "Elite Men: Simulated Leader Board" graphic for Val di Sole, you will notice the simulated ranks 21 & 22 are missing. These...

7/1/2025 8:33am Fine if you feel that way, but I try to ask for riders opinions on the current state of the sport and also anything happening inside so people from the outside can learn more, Finns response was great and a lot people enjoyed his opinions. I interview riders who are doing well in the race, on race day my video is to tell the story of the race. I can't make a judgement on a case where no one actually knows the full story, and we never will it seems, so until then I will interview the riders who performed...

6/28/2025 12:07pm You don't think those 20 forks have been stripped and grease/oil volumes double checked and bushing clearance/how free they run without damper and spring in place? I think Fox would be insane to spend all that money to run a press camp and not make sure that those 20 forks were the absolute best version of the product that they could be.

6/28/2025 11:59am Fox or whatever brand it is, IMO if the fork is new in a box with uncut steerer, you want it to work properly considering the rather large cost. I get what he's saying I've bough several new aftermarket fox and rockshocks forks over the years and it can be a lucky dip. Been bike nerds, we know alignment, bushing tolerance and lubrication is key to a forks ability to operate correctly. For every one of us nerds, there are 9 other average joe people who ride a sub-par product and ending up dropping 10psi at a time wondering why...
