5/9/2026 1:11pm Did specialized experiment with longer rear ends and taller stacks before settling on this geometry? Or is it based on Loic and Finn's apparent preference for shorter reach and chain stay and lower stack (that obviously works very well for them) and they just stuck to that? Was more travel (i.e. 220mm like commencal) considered and/or tried during prototype testing?

5/9/2026 1:10pm I'd be interested to know what lead them down the path to the drive system they ended up with. Was the suspension design and resulting packaging the chicken or the egg. Related to the first question, did they work their way into the idler placement bit by bit with minor refinements or were they targeting a specific location and then some of the other ideas fell into line as solutions from there (like the cog on the crank spindle). Also related, was this the core or one of the core ideas of the design of the new demo or was...

5/9/2026 9:56am Cartert Bilawchuck is a 16-year old who made his own bike, it ended up looking incredibly polished - and rad ( it was a lock for Vital BOD of course too)! This deep dive edit is full of insights into the trials and tribulations behind pulling off such a project, I figure it should be of interest to the followers of this thread:

5/9/2026 9:53am I'd be extremely disappointed in the bike industry if they didn't take this opportunity to also introduce a new hub standard. That would be VERY uncharacteristic of them.

5/9/2026 9:53am Not to disrupt the 32" hub spacing convo but - I'm linking up with Specialized next week to ride/film a video on the new Demo 11. I want to focus this video more on getting everyone's questions answered about the bike since we will do a proper test of the bike later this summer during our DH Test Sessions. So if you have anything you want explained or answered, drop a comment here - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/hub/specialized-demo-11-what-do-you-wan…

5/8/2026 11:26am Re: "Will we see any of the mega brands move to Avinox mid-term?" I agree that these price cuts are a direct consequence of Avinox eating everybody's lunch. But I don't think we'll see big brands starting to use Avinox, for compliance reasons. The one thing that draws consumers towards Avinox (- high power output) is basically also the reason why the big brands don't use them. If other electric motor OEMs like Bosch or Brose wanted to make, say, a 4.000 watt motor in an e-bike form factor, they absolutely could. I'm told there's nothing holding them back from...

5/8/2026 11:23am I ordered a RAAW Yalla a couple years ago. Super easy and cheap back then. I’m sure now it’s different game. Fed Ex actually sent me to collections because I got a surprise $1500 tariff bill on something else I ordered from Europe that I’m not gona pay. RAAW was great to deal with. I miss that bike.

5/8/2026 11:15am Excellent 👌 What a great way to display the sport. Some questions/wall of text if you have time; Do you have an opinion on viability of obtaining this kind of footage for EDR rounds and how it might be best used for promotion/racing packages? Do you see any obstacles with the speed of following male racers in top 10? Any other potential non-obvious constraints or challenges that might need to be overcome? How would you feel about EDR live podcast/radio style show, timing TBC, maybe started towards the last couple of stages. Guests chatting shit about racing shenanigans/stories/insider info in...

5/8/2026 11:14am Hell yeah. I said it after watching Jack and Charlie's followcams of the Trans Tazzy race, but I think a team race like Cape Epic (somehow timed to encourage proper followcam) with followcam footage would make for a pretty awesome race format. I thought that Martin Whiteley (or someone I heard on a podcast once) was pushing for an enduro format involving teams at one point. Edit: Found it. It's called Enduro2

5/8/2026 11:13am Nico - 10 CONSECUTIVE World Champs victories. 3 Junion World Champs 7 consecutive Elite World Champs. 1992-2002 Undefeated in that race. Having come from that very first generation of downhill bikes, venues & formats...it's still utterly mind blowing. Courses had HUGE pedaling sections. Tons of races on slick grass. Times could be up to 6 minutes on track for top 5. But the greatest feat was getting the equipment of those eras to the bottom of the track as the FASTEST on track. Everything we rode from 92-2002 was still fragile & courses were evolving faster than the bikes. His...
