1- MaxxTerra DHX DH casing should be in the next 1-2 months. Other pattern DH casings in Maxxterra in the fall, or end of year at latest. 2- the grade of nylon was changed for the new DH casing compared to DD. The ply overlap has also changed, DD has 4 layers under the tread in most locations, where the new DH has 6 layers consistently out to where the under tread overlap meets the sidewall protection. This ends up giving more under tread protection compared to the old 2x60tpi DH casing by around 30% in a plunger force test...

It's friday and that sounds like the perfect time to start a fight about wheel sizes again! Not exactly MTB, but Cube is supposedly dropping a 32" gravel in it's 2027 lineup. Saw this image floating around, first brand to commit to 30.5" ? Would hate to be an inventory manager right now...

I posted this in the Suspension Component Technology thread but I thought it would be worthy of a post here. It's the designer of Yeti's Sixfinity talking about a bunch of different suspension designs, the engineering thought behind each, and talks about some specifics that a lot of other suspension chat sort of ignores or intentionally leaves out. Cube just released a bunch of new bikes, the new downhill bike looks good (especially at the price) and it has a very interesting feature, it seems like the BB position is adjustable! Regarding wire bead and tubeless, it could actually be an advantage for bike park riding and general hooning. I had an interesting conversation with Pierre-Edoard Ferry about tire development last summer because he was one of the riders involved in developing Michelin's new DH tire line in 2016-ish, including the DH22 and DH34. I was curious why they went with wire beads on the new tires instead of folding. Wire beads are cheaper to manufacturer, but more expensive to ship and store, more difficult to merchandise at a bike shop, and heavier. Didn't make sense to me. He told me...

TLDR - I have been riding these pedals since the start of summer. They are my new favorite pedals, dethroning my previous favorite the Deity Deftrap. Imo the "wave" concept seems like a gimmick and doesnt seem to work the way they intended, I didnt notice my heels dropping unless I did it on purpose. Instead, the wave design achieves something else; it provides great grip that I can rely on while pounding through rough chunky terrain, but still allows me to re-adjust foot position on the fly - something i struggled with on my Deftraps. Raleigh going under as part of this is a real kick in the teeth. It’s a big part of British industrial and cycling history, it was once the biggest bike company in the world with a huge footprint in Nottingham. Growing up everyone wanted a Raleigh bike for Christmas. I do hope they can find someone to take it on, the name holds real cultural significance.

I was in the garage doing some work to one of my bikes over the weekend and watching old mtb movies... I had the thought of going through a few of these and re-watching them as a community and sharing things we noticed/appreciated... thus the idea for this thread. Maybe I'm nostalgic for a more simple time in mountain biking and mountain bike culture or maybe I'm subconsciously lamenting the barrage of short form content that evaporates in the blink of an eye. Either way, I feel like this is may be a fun way to re-live and re-discover these...

Well it's nice for people like me that still have a 27,5 front wheel on their bike. And I guess the aftermarket sales for tires must be a considerable market since at some point every bike that gets ridden needs new tires. Definitely more so than forks etc.

just saw nicolai posting a bike on a test stand. Looks very mich like the used something from the gamux sego, looks like an ebike and the downtube looks like the new gamux prototype from below.
