Things get a little tricky when you step down to 30T using OChain and especially the adjustable models. They don't have a symmetrical design like some of their fixed versions. There is a hump on top that needs to be cleared. Sure you can take a Wolftooth ring and use a Dremel to get that clearance or buy something that is designed around that hump. source: I went through analysis paralysis trying to find a OChain and t-type certified 104BCD chain ring in 2024. Pilo brand was the only option. CLEARLY I needed to hit the gym instead and get...

From the PitBits article. Minimum thickness is 1,5 mm, from the starting thickness of 2,2 mm apparently. Yikes, that's a lot of change in the thickness!

I wrote this on Pinkbike but will crosspost here to as I firmly believe ABS should not be involved in WCDH. I'm all for innovation in DH and I am absolutely fine with electronics in suspension but I strongly believe that ABS has no place in competitive DH. Braking ability and threshold braking are massively important skill that do separate riders. Having a system that would theoretically allow a rider to just full pull brake but not lock the wheels would be a huge advantage on most tracks and certainly would for low grip tracks or conditions. Formula One as...

I wouldn't be surprised if a 32" rear wheeled bike would need an ochain (or an idler enabled "high pivot" design) at much lower travel numbers than what we are used to. Antisquat is a function of pivot height vs. rear axle and chain growth. The more AS you get from the pivot height, the less you need from the chain itself. As we moved from 26" wheels towards 29" wheels, the effective pivot height was dropping as the main pivot still needs to be in the vicinity of the BB for everything to work more or less normally. The...

The prototype rotors also look stamped and not machined, which is the biggest problem I have with Shimano rotors. At least it means that 2.3 mm rotors from anyone else will be a clear upgrade. Edit: And it looks like the pads would line up perfectly with the braking track if only the rotor was say 3 mm larger...

2.2 instead of 2.3 eh? Leave it to Shimano to react to industry trends… but not quite.

Probably unrelated, as on the pictures it's a 200/203mm, but some teams on 100% Shimano programs had to run the cheap ebike 223mm rotor Shimano offered to get a bit more power out of their aging lineup. Other teams just run Galfer rotors ...

Ok, just did a ride on the new Tacky Chan Trail Pro Softs. I used the Wolf Tooth pressure calculator as an initial start, which rounded to 29 PSI rear, 26 PSI front. (For reference, I’m 220lb with kit and have been running 24/22 PSI on Maxxis EXO+ tires this season.) Started the ride with a half hour of climbing and the tires felt fine. Good traction, efficient feel, no complaints. Did the first bracketing run and while I didn’t notice any squirming on hard corners, I also didn’t notice anything notable about the traction, either. It felt like a...

I got a good ride in on the Tacky Chan Gravity Pro. These finally are the radials for me. They roll fast, brake well, dig into loose dirt, and don't squirm on hardpack or smashing berms. In the new Grav Pro casing, the radial effect seems less than when I tried the Albert or MM, but I think that's for the better. They feel kinda slightly more muted than a normal casing most of the time, but if you hit roots they conform really well rather than pinging off. Really pushing hard into berms or loose corners, they deform and...

Fresh podcast went up yesterday! We chatted with Jason Richardson, ex-pro BMX racer who has been a sports p sychologists the past 10+ years working with a lot of top cycling athletes. We actually recorded this a month ago, so I'm excited to listen to it again as we covered so many interesting topics about how to change your mindset and set yourself up to produce the outcome you're looking for—whether that is in a racing environment or just life in general. Enjoy!

Any thoughts on creating a new thread with to sole focus being DJI/Avinox/Amflow + Future (which can be technology and business)? I know a number of you subscribe to this looking for a broader range of things to be talked about. I'm happy to start one if you guys want.
