Certain hubs, spokes, EX471's are 9 years old this year. There's a bit when you look around

I mean the Minion DHF celebrated a 20th anniversary. If that is not longevity in this industry, IDK what is. They have been my favorite tire nearly the entire time I have ridden bikes seriously. I try something new every year or so and end up back on the DHF. Three wheelsizes later and I am still going after DHFs for my preferred tire. Speaking of wheelsizes, saw a post by DirtySixer showing 32" wheeled bikes 😒

Had some of the first Minion DHF 29" samples in 2012. Prior to that 29" options were pretty grim, the best we could do were WTB Weirwolf LT 2.55" and Maxxis Ardent 2.4" (probably what I had on the rear in this photo).

It straight up works. Why change it? Man bike riders are a fickle bunch, not happy when a good product doesn't get updated or revised, not happy when a part constantly changes.

Sad to say, but not matter how great a rider was, at some point that phone stops ringing. And, when times are tight, that point will probably come sooner..

Not to weigh in on signing Mr. Daprela in any way, I'm an attorney and I'd say it's never safe to assume somebody has done their due diligence or sought legal advice until proven otherwise. It'd make my job quite a bit easier if it weren't the case.

i agree that it's likely Gwin Racing probably won't get a season long wildcard, though if the UCI didn't want the freedom to make those kinds of choices, there would just be 20 teams based on points. But that means that a rider in Gwin's position, is looking at a wildly different landscape than in the past. I mean Peaty raced until he was 43, 44 maybe? His results probably would have left him without a guaranteed spot for at least the last few of those years, maybe more. Even Greg would have been on the bubble or behind the...

I think this kinda sums it up - 1. If you're in a top 15 team, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 2. If you're top 50 for elites or top 100 for juniors, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 3. If you are the current World/Conti/National Champ, you can race. (regardless if you meet other reqs) 4. If you didn't make any of those, then you either hope to be on a). One of the 5 season wildcard teams b). One of the 8 chosen wildcard teams for that round or c). Your...

For those playing along at home, here’s where we stand with the most ridiculous rumors so far… #3 - Phoebe Gale off FMD, going to Reece Wilson’s new AON team, after being prominently featured in the Orbea FMD press release. #2 - Aaron Gwin back to mentor the kids on lower budget Trek Factory after becoming a partner in Crestline bikes last year. #1 - Old man Dan Atherton returning to stomp $$$ DH podiums on a prototype belt drive after his most recent 57th at a 2018 Crankworx stop. There’s a few others close to the top 3, but...

The overall number of riders racing enduro is going to be so low. If I had a spare 100 bucks I’d say that it’s the last year of enduro. No exposure and no return on investment with a struggling industry why would anybody pay a rider to do this?

I believe you (of course) but can barely believe any brand would pay someone to race Enduro. Zero coverage and no return for the brands. It’s not worth it to pay those guys to fly around the world and for hotels. Sorry not sorry.

Regarding stiffness - can’t remember who said it, it was one of the USD manufacturers if I remember correctly - the hub-fork-axle interface is one of the most crucial parts regarding stiffness. So if they can figure that part out - ideally without a proprietary hub - then they could be on to something good. I’d love a USD fork. Even if it’s just for the looks lol

One of the good points that Darren from Push made about stiffness with their new USD fork was that torsional stiffness was overblown because front wheel traction limits the amount of force the front wheel experiences while riding. While you may be able to brace the wheel with your legs and twist the handlebars to show some twisting, that level of force is substantially higher than what is experienced in normal riding. I do take that with a grain of salt, since there was a little bit too much marketing speak from Push in the discussion but it was a...

It's not a question of doing, it's a question of selling it. What's the first thing people think when they see a Dorado? I bet it's something along the lines of "that has to be flexy". Visual perception has a lot to do with how we buy products, even if it doesn't make any sense.
