I have a hard time believing short of consistently getting on the podium many riders are actually having results translate to bike sales. And those guys by and large are making a decent salary. internationial racing is insanely expensive. There are few and basically no title team sponsors from outside the industry. Only reason these series exist and there is a deep field of upcoming riders is because the brands are as passionate about bike racing as fans are. That’s not to take away from the talent and dedication it takes to be a top 20 rider. And a top...

Image quality looks on point. I could pay for good coverage like this. Better than the garbage of Netflix. I just hope that the live DH coverage is good though

I wouldn't call it "next level" but it's a lot better than their prior stuff. Basically vital raw (and I mean that as high praise) but with a some annoying voice over at the start, a few artsy/fartsy slow mo landscape shots which I sorta like, and some annoying graphics. Not terrible. Not something anyone would pay for tho.

At times I feel Peak Torque and the like seem to exist solely to fill the space and views of the crowd that wants to talk down everything new. I don't for a second believe that guy actually believes a lot of what he says. That or he's the ego stroking know-it-all engineer type who can always see the super obvious problem no one else does and the lesser engineers didn't consider. Ever notice how often they don't actually use any of the stuff they 'review.' If anyone's worried about the direct mount derailleur being misaligned due to dropout manufacturing...

To be honest I noticed the TRP stuff much more than if it was released a week ago. A week ago it would have been 'nice, I wonder what Sram will put out'. Now it's like 'TF is Sram smoking with these prices and features, TRP looks like an utter win compared to this'.

I doubt it as you can already buy it from Stages. I have seen one on a recent trade show in Germany.

3/17/2023 8:44pm
So with that last sentence from Rider Mike, I'm curious to hear... Do folks actually think USAC "Pays" venues to put on national champs? It could not be more the opposite. It costs venues 10's of thousands of dollars, (maybe in the 6 figures when it was combined XC and DH) to meet USAC requirements, pay USAC officials, house all of the staff, and put on a national championships race. On the same vein of polling the group... Does anyone know of even ONE other legit bid that was put in to USAC to host national champs in 23/24? I'm...

3/17/2023 8:39pm
Unfortunately not true. always take tension from the highest side. 95% of the time this will be drive side rear and disc side front. Some offset rims will make it even but in reality I have RARELY found them to be exactly even except for front non disc wheels. other side tension will be what it is. If you are at the correct tension on the tight side (rear drive, front disc) and your wheel is dished correctly (using a dishing gauge) then your less tighter side will be the correct tension. If you go the other way you will...

Nope. We’re going to keep seeing who can get the most pedantic about human walking speed. Mods, can we rename the thread— Discussion of walking speed vis a vis freak gearing setups. Thanks.

“…maybe you should try an e-bike?” Coming off the top rope with the insults! 😂 In all seriousness though, when I went back to gears after only singlespeeding I figured for sh!ts and giggles I’d just go off the deep end and ran a 26/51T setup. I did indeed giggle at what I could climb. The singlespeeder in me ultimately forced me into 36/11-36 which I find fine, but that ultra low gearing has its place. I wouldn’t rag on anyone wanting such ratios. Not sure I could handle the aesthetics of a 60T though!

When AXS first launched 4 or 5 years ago or whenever it was, pricing was 1900usd for X01 in a groupset that included crankset/chain/cassette/derailleur/controller/charger. I wonder what the new $1599 group consists of? That's twice the price of the current "upgrade kit" which is just derailleur/controller/charger, which, ooof that'd be rough if that's what we're talking about. On the other hand, if it's $1599 for, say, derailleur/controller/chain/cassette—well, I ain't spending that, but it's not as bad as I could have imagined. You know what, I'm actually a lot more curious about the new Codes than I am the drivetrain stuff...
