TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic SQ Labs panties? Can't we do better with MTB advertising?
6/6/2023 7:48am Hey Losifer, couldn't agree more. Was surprised to check Vital this morning and see a wall of female butts in panties facing me. Like you said, if this was an ad selling women's panties to a website with a predominantly female audience, then sure, fair play. But that's clearly not the case here. The last Vital audience survey in 2022 said this audience is 96% male! I don't know how many times I've heard industry people ask how we can get more women into mountain biking and I'm pretty sure the answer is "Not like this." Selling products to dudes...

6/6/2023 7:46am First of all, I get that a lot of ad folks are probably not mountain bikers. They're using a toolbox based on things that they think has worked in the past, not necessarily what will work best in this community. Second, their job is to sell products. Building a community where new people feel welcome is probably not on their priority list. Third, as mountain bikers, we have collectively shown that stuff like the old Marzocchi posters and calendars (that were on the walls of service departments I managed) was not only acceptable but preferred. I'm saying all of this...

6/5/2023 12:18pm I love this thread.. and I hate every e-bike review that does not mention the durability and reparability of an e-bike. Current Ebikes support makes me mad!! Ebike is considerably different than MTB. Traditional bikes can be repaired and maintained in an inexpensive way for almost a lifetime. I can still find cheap original parts on eBay for my 1990 mtbs, it's also for the most part compatible with a decent amount of modern components. E-bikes (the motor and battery) are made of components that are difficult or impossible to maintain, there is no public documentation, no third parties parts...

6/5/2023 12:13pm @Primoz Dude, stop. I realise I'll going against my word by replying, but I'm in for one more. A motor that can't be fixed with 800 miles on it is ridiculous and consumer fraud. Motors have nothing to do with the intelligence of the person who turns it on. Motors, by definition, are already stupid proof. When they're on, they run. Real motors can run indefinitely, and fuel can be added while they're running. I've got 30 year old lawn mowers, scooters, and cars with motors containing few original parts, easily repaired by any kid who studied mechanics and stayed...

6/5/2023 12:10pm My 2021 ep8 motor died at 16 months and about 800 miles… no error code, dead as a doornail. Luckily I was (barely) inside the warranty period and got a replacement (took about two months, but I still use and love my muscular bike so I wasn’t without wheels). I shudder to think about the rage I’d have unleashed on the world if it had happened after hanging it up for the winter…out of warranty with so few miles, I’d have spit fire at Shimano and broken a window with that bricked motor. No battery lasts forever, and that’s something...

6/5/2023 12:09pm @Primoz everyday idiot your mother. she probably feels exactly that every time you kiss her with those insulting lips… sheeezus, insulting someone for a stated opinion? You? Aren’t you some sort of ambassador here? I could care less about sharing a comment, but this site needs them. I know you’d love this place to be more like pinkbike, but I don’t comment in that dragshow anymore and this will be my last comment here. Peace!

5/21/2023 1:09pm In my humble unpolished opinion, snobbery is very often the source of dumb criticism. DVOs are more than fine, for their target. But bells and whistles are demanded by the ones who cannot differentiate LSC from HSC, or riding with wrong sag.. The DVO jade (original dh shock) its a fantastic piece of simplicity.

5/18/2023 9:19pm 5.10 Impact - the old style or the Sam Hill version worked well for me. Just getting on the Adidas website it looks like they don't even sell the Sam Hill model anymore and now the MTB world will fall off its axis never to return to what it once was. Fuck adidas anyways.

5/17/2023 10:00am This has been puzzling in the back of my mind all week but after doing a bunch of reading and hearing Chase Sexton talk on the Pulp Show this week about what he did to his Honda to make the front end more stable I think I understand why they would prefer this. By increasing the offset they are lengthening the bike including the front center to increase chassis stability. We (the general public) generally think about just sizing up or getting reach adjust headsets but clearly Finn and Loic know exactly what reach measurement works for them and their...

5/10/2023 9:26am He is the only good resource they have left. The rest is just press releases, advertorial content, or videos from youtube. But who cares, I just hopes he can keep racing and putting out good technical content (although the deleted Cathrovisons where the bee's knees because they where less refined IMO). I have been following him since his SDA race vlogs and it's just heartwarming to see that he has made it back to the top level.

5/10/2023 9:26am I think Cathro deserves most of the credit; from everything I've seen the guy is an absolute stand-up human and he works his effin' butt off to make good things.
