How many people these days still recognise Kona as a brand, let alone what the brand means to the history of MTB?

I mean the IP of Nukeproof really isn't a lot. Not having a go at them, but a few horst link bikes and a couple linkage driven single pivots. Not like they had anything revolutionary, they're bikes are very middle of the road, not in a bad way.

in Brian Cahal's YouTube video, they take a 2016 Bronson vs 2024 Bronson on 2 tracks and their times are pretty much identical. Has to say something. With e-bikes, the tech is changing so fast so I think a lot of potential buyers/upgraders are staying on the sidelines for a bit.

I saw a 2025 Slash+ being discounted already. At this point there's no way any manufacturer will be able to sell their 2025 bikes at full MSRP in any kind of significant amount and I can easily see the situation being the same for 2026. There's too many factors that will continue to do significant damage to the industry for quite a while.

Has anyone actually been paying retail? I picked up a discounted SJ15 frame the week it was released.

Between a not so great economy, huge amount of inventory out there that's already discounted, and changes that were marginal, outside of the shock, you get new products discounted right away.

While it’s hard to know what’s going on at the big companies, I’ve recently heard the Stumpjumper 15 was the worst Specialized product launch in company history and will be going on sale soon. Trek on the other hand hasn’t had a Nocal sales rep since last July. One of the biggest markets in the US. Dealers in the dark.

If you look at their history, they started out with a crazy minimalist line of t-shirts and stickers…basically just a brand for the sake of a brand. The eyewear is what took them into the mainstream. The helmet and protection line never really grabbed a substantial market share, so while this may seem like a drastic cutback, it’s actually aligned with their core strength I would think.

The news "leaked" almost a year ago but you can find comments that it happened well before then. Can't blame you for missing it though, OneUp seems intent on keeping it quiet so they can trick consumers into thinking they're just 29 nice guys up in Squamish and your money is all staying locally.

My first thought of the creation of the continental series aspect of all the changes is the opportunity it brings to the rest of the (err, "non-white") world and what that means for the health of the race scene and mountain biking in a general sense. Can't wait to see who has the chance to break thru to top with proper exposure and support !

Plenty of non-cycling sponsors in the XC world (Ford for example from the car world), its just DH/enduro that lacks them.

With how poorly things went last year and the rule changes for this year, I fully expected them to pull the plug. Curious if what I heard lines up but I am just stoked they are not walking away.

Ok ill say it with my chest then. It's Pivot. I like the brand and BK is a bad look for them. I want them to do well, but in my opinion, they have to get rid of him and his Baggage to succeed.
