8/11/2026 12:45pm Yes, they're awesome and I swear by them. Not only do they last a very, very long time, but they also roll super fast, which was great because I often use the same bike for DH shuttles one day and XC pedals the next. Grip wasn't bad, but I did notice worse vibration damping over small chatter and braking bumps compared to a MaxxGrip or MaxxTerra, which is to be expected. For me it's a great trade-off, and when I discovered that these tires existed it was like finding a four-leaf clover.

8/11/2026 12:43pm Maxxterra / new DH casing soon to come for the DHX. MaxxTerra has had a major durability upgrade earlier this without impacting grip compared to the previous version. Glad you like the tires!

8/11/2026 12:43pm The last time I posted in this thread I glazed the Kryptotals pretty hard for their long life, but I've been sucked back into Maxxis world by the DHX. Initial thoughts on DHX after two days in the park Maxxgrip rubber has confidence inspiring grip on rock slabs. I don't think I have ever been able to go so slow down renegade or captain safety as I did on these tires. The new DH casing is noticeably more supportive and impact resistant as expected, these tires are heavy I don't feel the need to run the tannus pro inserts I...

8/11/2026 12:37pm Why not, instead of crank arms, make crank discs? Solid 304 stainless steel. You could put several holes in there, offset, so you can choose different “crank lengths” just by switching your pedals into different threaded holes. Adds weight, centered right around the bottom bracket. Ultimate bash guard as well! I should be an engineer. I’d succeed big time (or not).

8/11/2026 12:37pm One of the syndicate mechanics does these as a side hustle along with rotor guards - at Preorder stage currently and only for Saint cranks, unsure if the plan would be to offer any SRAM variants. g10prjct.com

8/8/2026 8:04pm For those who don’t want to watch, specialized found radials faster on trails due to the conformation of the tire. Roads are worse with radials. My non science based opinion agrees. If someone watches it fully does spec plan to release lighter radials? That’d be dope.

8/7/2026 10:47am I wouldn’t think there is much stress on the bearings at all. It’s only the bike weight, if you hit something with a crank mounted bash-guard. The bearings carry all your body weight, load under heavy pedaling, the pull of the chain… I’d think all these stresses are much higher on the bearings than when the bike weight hits the bearings by hitting the crank-mounted bash guard. The only thing is that the impact is quick and hard. If the frame hits something, the body/bodyweight isn’t as rigid and will “give” in the direction of movement. If that makes any...

8/7/2026 10:47am Lead is problematic for multiple reasons. If you need something around the same density (i.e. steel isn't doing it for you) then I suggest 10 carat gold.

8/6/2026 3:21pm I was a Five Ten fanboy for years but after Adidas took over I bought one pair of Freeriders and noticed the rubber wasn't the same. I'm currently on a pair of Neatt (Alltricks.fr) which looks like a Freerider Pro with a Specialized sole. Been running them for +6months with no problems whatsoever and have ridden them in -10ºC to +35ºC weather.

8/3/2026 9:21pm So stoked to put them on my bike, i think its gonna be a great upgrade. Gotta head to the LBS to fit some caliper spacers and then im off to the trails to bed em in. Was able to get two for cheaper than a single Galfer shark, from amazon of all places... They were selling them in pairs for $165 CAD.
