5/21/2026 6:36pm Probably refers to the fact that Jay, the owner, now lives in Taiwan and does the QC on site. Keith, the designer/engineer is from Scotland and rest of the crew is in the USA. If that makes it a Taiwanese company so be it... The fact that whole brand is basically run by 4 people is just amazing, is FW still run by just Neko and his brother or are there others (not counting the team)?

5/21/2026 6:35pm Favorite thing is he’s always claiming no hype, but then everything he does is hyping up his own products without anything backing that they’re better. I’ve ridden a banshee with his link in shock and then one that was stuck, and there was not a massive difference and I thought the one with what I like.

5/21/2026 6:34pm Maybe Im missing something but how in the right mind is a company like Santa Cruz releasing a bike with very little travel, high price point, and the rear shock comes stock with all of its tokens in use? If you needed more resistance youre just up shit creek until Cascade makes something? Im genuinely so confused how they go from a well done VPP to a simple 4 bar and screwed that up when every other company can do it. Like who signed off on this?

5/21/2026 6:33pm Frame kinematics that require stuffing air cans full of volume spacers and are a big no-go for coil shocks? Hmmm, I feel like we have been here before.

5/21/2026 6:32pm Lots of talk about how it's 300g lighter, but in nearly the same XT di2 build, the intense spider is .2 lbs lighter than the Tallboy and 1400 dollars cheaper.

5/21/2026 6:32pm Push hasn't been too helpful in those regards. I tried as well. Someone very reputable in suspension that I have a great relationship with offered to customize a Push for me to do that but I didn't want to go that route. Especially after how Push treated with me with my V1. Wasnt going to continue to use it. . Ext built me a custom mini Arma for my TB4 and I have a tuned Ohlins TTX22 on it now. Coil short travel bikes are so rad!

5/18/2026 4:45pm I can't speak for other countries, but I think distribution was the reason nobody bought GT bikes in the US, not the product. Everyone I knew who had a GT bike for the last six or so years seemed pretty stoked with it, but IIRC the only place you could buy one in most metro areas was through Dicks Sporting Goods, which is a great place to get an exercise ball but not a great place to buy a $5000+ mountain bike.

5/18/2026 4:44pm For the VPP question, I feel like VPP doesn't really matter until you hit 140-150mm+ travel wise. Smaller than that and the benefits are less note-able and the system adds weight to platforms that need to shed it in the configuration SC currently had it in. When the OG Intense Spyder VPP and SC Blur came out they were simple layout frames that were pretty light and that carried on until the late 2010's when they went low shock mount for better center of gravity. Horst link with a vertical shock position helps keep the weight lower than the low...

5/17/2026 7:56am If we compare the new horst link tallboy with the Allied Fitz, Forbidden Reya and Transition Smuggler, there a few difference: Tallboy is the only bike using a trunion shock most likely a 185x50, Smuggler and Fitz use a normal 210x50 shock and Reya use a 190x45 shock. So Reya most likely have a higher starting leverage ratio that could limit heavier rider that are getting close to the shock max pressure. Reya, Smuggler and most likely Tallboy use double bearing setup at the chainstay. Santa Cruz does the same for the Bullit and Vala. Allied Fitz has no exploded...

5/16/2026 9:55am Take it easy buddy. I’m not trying to derail the entire conversation but also think it’s allowed to have an aside now and again. There’s plenty of off topic quips that go on in this thread.
