At least in Germany we have this April fools thing as well. (And had it for decades, doesn‘t seem to be an exclusive north american thing imho.)

Nah, April Fools is totally a thing we’re doing here too. For us Germans, it’s one of the extremely rare occasions when our culture permits you to act a little silly or pull a good-natured prank on your workplace colleagues and not get the condescending stare of death in return.

Well, this one is NOT an April Fools' joke it seems.

MX rotors for your XC bike from Magura:

---------------------------------------------------------

Bad Urach, April 1, 2026 – Reliable braking power for the new wheel sizes in the cycling industry: With the new MDR-S rotor in a 260 mm diameter, MAGURA responds to the clear trend toward ever larger wheel sizes such as 32 inches, which offer improved rollover behavior and increased traction on the trail. The scene agrees: 32 inches are coming, and in some segments, this trend is unstoppable—even for MAGURA.

As a brake specialist, MAGURA has repeatedly set milestones in the cycling industry over the past decades—from the introduction of the first hydraulic rim brake, the MAGURA HS, to the legendary GUSTAV M disc brake.

MDR-S 260 1

With the new MDR-S in 260 mm, MAGURA once again builds on this legacy of innovation. More than 20% increase in braking power 32” wheels present new physical challenges for braking systems. Due to the larger radius, the same braking force becomes less effective at ground level, as leverage is reduced. Larger brake rotors can compensate for this effect. It is well known that every 20 mm increase in rotor diameter results in approximately 10% more braking power. The new MDR-S in 260 mm therefore delivers around 20% more braking power compared to a 220 mm rotor, making it perfectly suited for the demands of larger wheel formats. In fact, the achieved braking force now slightly exceeds that of a 29” enduro bike equipped with 220 mm rotors.

“Initial tests show excellent results and once again confirm that more simply means more. Based on these findings, we are already looking ahead: for upcoming 30.5-inch wheels (‘Thirty-fiver’), we are currently testing 240 mm rotors—the perfect sweet spot,” says Ingo Beutner (Managing Director of MAGURA).

If they'd have bothered to keep the 6bolt BCD true to life instead of scaling the whole thing, it'd be somewhat believable.

Bigger 6 bolt PCD is the next new standard big bike will force upon us to deal with the higher brake torque requirements of XL wagon wheels. You heard it here first!

That might bring with it a larger spoke flange diameter to improve the spoke bracing angle.

I don’t think so…in a couple of years I think we won’t see 203 anymore, a big brake brand is going to switch over to the …, 180, 200, 220 pattern as well soon.

Surely not...

Force everyone with <big brake brand's> 203 mm rotors to replace their mount adaptors when they replace their rotors (or switch to a different brand)?  And everyone who doesn't know about the change then has problems with their brakes?  That would be a disaster.

Edited for clarity

203 will still be available for a while but not with the rotor thickness the new brake is intended to work with.

But it’s going to happen…

So is it just one product line?

32" wheels will unironically require a new/different hub standard with wider flange spacing anyways, so why not increase the bolt pattern diameter for the disc mount while we're at it?

From the first photo, you can also notice the marking on the stanchion—identical to the one used on Super Deluxe air shocks with the HBO.

With the name 6-7, how can this not be a joke?

It's kind of funny to see Unno and Suntour on the same bike: one is known for being a very blingy boutique, low volume manufacturer; and the other has no flash, makes parts for almost every other brand, and is known for being inexpensive.

It's like putting EXT on a Polygon.
