6/22/2026 9:56pm I’d argue we’re exiting “Chinese clone” territory and entering regular “Chinese product” territory. Mountain biking is growing rapidly over there, soon there will be high level Chinese racers working with Chinese suspension and Chinese frames that they test at Chinese bike parks. As with the Avinox motors we’re getting to a point where the Chinese won’t need to copy western products. The writing is on the wall with BYD imo.

6/18/2026 1:15am The original post feels like a prank because there is no front tire with more consistent grip than the Assegai because it was specifically designed to eliminate the dead zone between the center grip and the side knobs. Before the Assegai, the primary Maxxis DH front tires were either the DHF, DHR2, or the High Roller 2, each of which featured a large gap between the side knobs and center knobs. As others have mentioned, it's that gap that creates the "dead zone" between hooking and sliding on the DHR2 and High Roller 2, and especially on the DHF. In...

6/10/2026 12:18pm Yes, it's suffering, but the wrong kind, it must feel bad from the start, not accidental. Now back to rumors!

5/27/2026 10:26pm The interesting thing is that the differences are apparent at both slower and faster speeds. Where you are positioned between the wheels makes a much larger impact than a few millimeters difference in total wheelbase. The difference in F:R ratio is surprisingly important in tight switchbacks, tech climbing, etc. The longer Crafty feels more maneuverable even in the slow tight stuff. An extreme example is if you've ever owned a BMX bike with rear pegs and have rode around standing on the pegs - the front end pushes wide at any speed and you have to lean on the bars...

5/25/2026 11:27am Started my real MTB career in late 2017, so the list are: Oct 2017-Sept 2018: 2017 Trek Remedy 8, M First real MTB, it was dual 27,5, easy going and really fun in general. The brakes was quite awful, and as the speed and skills improved, the brakes was a big minus. Sept 2018 - July 2019 2019 Trek Slash...

5/12/2026 11:34am Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...
