Same question goes for Kade & Charlie, both unbelievably fast guys when they're rubber side down

I sure hope Reece and Charlie have another season (at least) with Trek. Both have had moments of greatness but have battled injuries/bad luck. Kade is such a versatile rider, I wouldn't be surprised to see him transition into the C3 Project and race less often. Would be wild for Trek to give any of them the boot IMO.

Yeah Reece is still in the team…. pretty sure he posted a Instagram story indicating that another deal was signed a couple months ago.
Just posted his winter session build. Trying some new things on it apparently

Winter testing = still on the team. That's my assumption at least Smile

Sounds like Kolb might be heading to Scott.

You really think Atherton would just let him go after such a fantastic season?

Besides, I know for a fact that there was serious talk at Scott wheter they even want to keep up the commitment to DH racing. Seems like an odd maneuver for them to hire another racer at a point when they couldn't even be sure if their budget would be approved.

Listen to the first 15min of the new Making up the Numbers podcast and its stated as a "rumor" by Emily Siegenthaler. I'd think she would have a bit more insight than most people on here but def not confirmed.

https://singletrackworld.com/2022/10/old-hand-and-young-buck-greg-minna…

They also mention several other potential moves but pretty sure they have all been mentioned earlier in this thread.

With Flo Payet retiring there is likely a spot open on the Scott team.....time will tell.

Does Atherton have the budget bandwidth to keep a freshly top 10 rider with years ahead of him? Not that I have any idea, but they're just starting to sell bikes, I question their budget for top riders, which they have been steadily producing and then loosing when it comes contract time. They're almost like the new Yeti, getting top talent started and sending them off to bigger things. Mille went pretty quick and I'm sure Kolb will as well, dudes stoked and doing well.

People don’t just have kids because they got married, it’s not the 1950s. Many continue to do their work/travel/lifestyle/compete for years and then have kids (if they even want them). Just because a female athlete is married doesn’t mean she’s going out to pasture to breed.

Especially one at the top of her game like Kate. When’s got a several years of podiuming in her at least.

With Millie, I am not sure whether it was a budget thing behind leaving Atherton - her social media presence only ever seemed to pay a very limited acknowledgement of the team (compared to what you see from the rest of the team riders). Her Welsh presence was clearly more focused around the Seagraves (for obvious reasons at the time) and her riding seemed focused around what they were doing - in some ways giving more media focus to their brands rather than her own. Not sure (nor interested) if her relationship is still on with Kaos but the rare times I look at her IG feed, she is now very much more sponsor savvy and he never seems to appear.
I am also not sure whether she is destined to be more than a solid top 10 rider - obviously it is early in her senior team but she is one among a strong generation. Couple that with a strong group rising into the class over the next couple of years and maybe Atherton were happy to let her go with the intention of picking up new youngsters. Elsewhere in this thread Mikayla Parton has been mentioned for example

And even if she did, Pendrel was back racing months after and Rach was back on it soon after as well. Women are strong as hell and can have a child and come back just as strong quickly if they have the support system for them send it while taking care of their new life. If Kate did want a kid and plans worked out for end of the season/before the next season, she'd only miss a few races and could keep crushing it.

Millie is another in a line of youth who hooked up with the Atherton Academy, showed enough potential to be brought to the races with the team, and ended up with a contract and potential career.

I have little doubts if they really wanted to the Athertons can scrounge up the cash for Kolb. They may not be a major sponsor as a frame supplier but they are still continental's trade team, and major sponsors for trickstuff, endura, and a few other brands. I think it's just a question whether even top 5 guy's results really brings any needed credibility or sales for what is a pretty abnormal bike brand that only core riders will ever hear of anyways. Kolb won't have a problem getting on a high quality program so does he really need the Atherton's at this point either. I wouldn't be suprised if both parties get things worked out together but I think it's more likely Kolb ends up somewhere else.

That is some next-level "enhance" sh*t right there! (Unless he's trolling which is totally possible because that seems just a little too perfect...)

Ok maybe I'm dense but I don't get it. I don't do instagram, but is this a reference to JM shirt? And if so what so funny?

Him posting a story on IG where it looks like he's wearing a Canyon Collective T-shirt while being a part of the Rocky Mountain team and being rumored to be switching teams for next year?

Not really funny or a joke, unless he intentionally trolled us with the shirt and is staying put at RM (or going somewhere else).

I've done some more extensive photo enhancement on that photo Jesse posted, and there's absolutely no argument as to where he's going. This is 120% concrete, congrats on the new ride Jesse!!!

From what I understand, Rocky Mountain has treated Jesse Melamed with a lot of faith and respect.
If Melamed leaves for Greener Pastures, I hope it is as amicable as possible.

Besides, I know for a fact that there was serious talk at Scott wheter they even want to keep up the commitment to DH racing. Seems like an odd maneuver for them to hire another racer at a point when they couldn't even be sure if their budget would be approved.

Though I can not confirm, nor deny Kolb to be staying with Atherton Racing, I do know we have signed the team for a few more years so that will help with their team budget.

Might have some clues about that in the last Making Up the Numbers podcast.
