Shimano likes to take its sweet time developing products. It’s kinda their shtick. The best (current) example of their conservative innovation is the Saint gravity line—it turned 16 this year. If a Saint derailleur could drive, it would, in 2026. A new Saint groupset is surely on the horizon based on the volume of prototype parts hanging from bikes at the first World Cup . I wouldn’t hold my breath that it lands soon, but it’s coming. To keep us occupied until then, Shimano casually dropped its new Saint PD-G8040 flat pedal. On paper, they are a big improvement...

we were talking on our ride last night about avinox, and a couple well placed industry friends was saying that there's a real feeling around that they're about to devour the industry and in particular (SRAM/Shimano/Bosch/etc) as a whole given how much engineering resourcing they're putting into the whole thing (Amflow, Avinox, etc). Granted I'm deaf in one year so hearing the fine points of a conversation at speed can be challenging, but they were saying they have a many many hundreds or thousands of engineers working on the motors, batteries, frames, complete bikes and all the brands playing me...

It's not so much that 2 layers were added, its that now both of the 2x67epi carcass layers are now extend ontop of each other under the tread cap (before it was just one layer that extend to the end of the lap.

Hi everyone! I’m currently conducting research for my university thesis on the transition to Thermoplastic Carbon in the mountain biking industry. I’ve created a short survey that only takes about 5 minutes to complete (6 sets of 4 statements), and I’m looking for just 40 more respondents. So far, over 250 mountain bikers have already participated! It would really help me out if you could take a few minutes to fill it in: https://fdm.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2i2v4mHBH3wvgii Thanks in advance to everyone willing to help a fellow mountain biker with research towards a greener future for mountain biking! 🚵🌱

The only 32" Dissector model that Maxxis offers to the public right now is an Exo+ Maxxterra tire. It's the same tire Matt Beer was riding at Cypress when he did the back to back 32"/29" test for the other site. If that's the tire Neko's riding at Rock Creek, I'm actually more impressed with his ability to nurse an EXO+ casing through Mountain Creek than I'm worried about slightly "the wrong" tread or compound. I'm certain a 32" front tire takes a lot less beating than a 27.5" rear tire, but still, not exactly the ideal tire setup. If...

I currently have four radial Albert Gravity SuperSoft tires mounted (first version) and one 2.6 has a pretty decent wobble on my just-built-and-straight wheel. Front, no inserts, with TPU tube. Hopefully that's just the fold from the packaging, otherwise I'll warranty it. Has anyone else had a wobbly one?

First off, there is warranty on schwalbe tires so you should check that out. You should consider the Eddy Current, now comes in radial. Gravity casing weighs 1480g for 29x2.5, but it's pretty damn durable. Ideal for rear wheel on e-bikes. Romy could be good. Defintley faster rolling and lighter at 1355g. But on the rear you may chew through the tread pretty fast. Its typicaly reccomended for 130-140mm trail bikes. Or like others mentioned, split the difference and go Tacky Chan. P.S. Nice to see the Mary in your profile pic come out at the listed 1190g.

I am fine with 12spd Eagle X01 durability, except for the clutches. Although I always liked Shimano I wasn‘t blown away by their 12spd mtb stuff. What absolutely amazes me is their 11spd Linkglide XT! I have 10.000km on my first cassette and second chain, now it is worn, but it still doesn‘t miss a single shift. I never even had to adjust the cable tension. It is so good, it is almost too good to be true. 250-300g more weight on the cassette to the Eagle. And only 11-50t, not 10 to 50t.

Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the year of our lord 2026 still are half singe piece pinned garbage that falls apart and half stamped metal plates with spacers. Seriously, 12 speed shimano stuff is the most disappointing experience I've ever had with a drivetrain. I hate...

Thanks! And great question. We've made a decision to sharpen our focus on the US market right now. We want to do it the best we can here at home before we expand again so that we have a strong foundation to grow from. And Canada is absolutely on the roadmap, and honestly it's one of the first places we want to be when we do expand. Stay tuned, we're working on it!

I'll ask the obvious question; did Intense consider going Avinox on this project? What ultimately lead to Bosch for this bike? What are Intense's thoughts regarding the "power wars" that seem to be taking place all of a sudden due to the Avinox/DJI drive system? ...oh, and how do I get one to test? Wink The bike looks absolutely phenomenal.

You are not wrong. If People For Bikes spent 1/4 as much advocating for safe routes to school as they did lobbying for Ebike access in skeptical communities, the shrinking American bicycle market might be expanding. Instead we seem laser focused on selling stuff to the same 10% of the population over and over again, each time with an extra battery or two.
