Oh man all this talk about the Canucks racing at home, in Whistler, makes me so excited that I got the time off and have my room booked for the show. Finn is always a threat at home. Jackie Boy is hitting his stride and ready to throw down. And I just know Miss Gracey is right at home on the 1199 track. Having 3 actual podium threats living in the area where they all grew up and it's gonna be electric! Long live Chainsaw!

A lot to unpack for me after attending the race. I'm glad I went for sure... My wife did not want to go to the race after almost getting very hurt by a crazy person sliding down the hill through a crowd with a chainsaw flailing on a leash. No photos from me, since I was solo I just roamed the track and took the experience in... And what an experience it was. Part of me loves the unhinged nature of the French fans... But another part of me is grown enough to see that many (easily 30%) towards the...

Yeah, well, my kids were in the front line opposite side of the main stampede, just told them, let the crazy guys run first and the you walk down, you can be buried in the grass in a second.. so, I think the crowd rushing to the finish area, in a way is done OK-ish respecting the race and if you want to gamble it rushing down, you know what you are gettin in ...its common sense.. and this does not need to be policed too much... lots of people doing stupid things and getting carried out by paramedics while...

He had no chafe to make it out of corral. There were people already past barriers in front of him. The only solution I see is a legit moat around corral drawbridge at the finish line 😂😂

So back to team rumors... The Downtime Les Gets pre-race podcast had a bit of discussion about teams wanting to sign up and coming juniors, leaving riders towards/at the end of their career with few options. They didn't mention names, but I'm sure we can guess who might be in this bucket. Danny Hart jumps to mind first. Who else?

If you want to have more than one child past the age of 35 and any past 40 there is generally a good amount of effort involved to hedge your bets. Over the age of 35 is technically a “geriatric pregnancy”. However it is a route that is increasingly common especially for women with high end careers like tahnee. There are also plenty of career women who have traditionally taken a break from their careers or effectively retired in their late 20s and early 30s to start a family. Rachel was around tahnee’s current age when she hung it up...

I had my first ride on the DHX today, front and rear. I’ve never felt more confident going waaay faster than I ever have before on the trail, than I did today! For reference, I’ve been riding the same trail at least once a week, 2-3 laps for the last 5 and a half months, only taking 2 weeks off. I ran the exact same pressure as I ran in my Assegai/DHR DH casing combo, 25/28. I’m riding a 50 pound eeb with 200mm travel front and rear. I weigh 180 pounds buck naked. I’ve got five bullet points. First...

In his defense, getting paid for any amount of time vs not getting paid sounds pretty good even if leaves you in a position where you're somewhat unsure.

Just buy a DH bike with steep seat tube angle and run a dropper post and full drivetrain. Then you have the best of both worlds! Frameworks for the win. And for those complaining it ruins drivetrains, this XX group (minus chain replacements) has been running strong since Jan. 2023.

I'm about a month ahead of the OP with a somewhat similar background. I used to ride a good bit of road, and some gravel, and both clipped in but I never made any attempt to get really good at it. I didn't practice trackstands, ultra low speed maneuvering, emergency exit drills in the grass. Nope. Consequently, some things that were trivial on flats, like an elevated pedestrian bridge's hairpin climbing turns, were nerve racking and I might walk it. I started mtb in earnest in 2012 and tried clipping in shortly after, with XC shoes and cheapie shimanos, and...

Avinox is far from a monopoly. Looking just at MGUs, I wouldn't underestimate players like Gobao. And, more broadly speaking, I wouldn't count out TQ or Bosch just yet. But SRAM and Shimano have had a duopoly in the drivetrain market for ages, so maybe it's about time some others get some market share too. While I like both companies, I'm certainly not looking at the current landscape and saying "I hope this doesn't mean I'll be able to choose something other than SRAM or Shimano in the future." Smile

Nice! This is great info. I'm surprised, but encouraged to see it. I certainly hope SRAM and Shimano are both able to roll out new motors and compete with Avinox. Monopolies are bad.

So, I actually fill out those customer surveys that SRAM sends out after you register products. A few weeks ago, I got one related to ebikes. After I filled it out, they reached out (presumably also to other people) to see if I'd do a research interview. I said yes in hopes to read between the lines on what stuff they're considering. Based on the questions they asked, I'd say they're considering various motor options. Everything seems to be on the table from conventional to eCVT. Lots of questions regarding weight, range, power, durability, and aesthetics. Pure speculation on my...

We design our tires to be a standalone product. We do some testing to ensure instal is reasonable, but performance of tire + insert isn’t a priority for us.

Any questions about the DHX or updated DH casing let me know, both were my projects. In general the DHX does everything our current dry tires do, but has more capability for high load high speed conditions. I designed it to excel in the bike park oriented World Cup tracks but still not give up performance in soft or natural sections compared to current dry tires. Ideally I wanted to simply the racers’ tire choice: if it’s dry and fast- DHX, if it’s soft or mixed- HR3, if it’s wet- mud spike. The updated DH casing is pretty well explained...
