3/27/2026 2:48am Re: recent geopolitical happenings With the Straight of Hormuz and Red Sea both being closed to tanker traffic, we will be seeing some very large increases in oil prices, at least in the short term. In my 30+ years tracking bicycle retail trends, we usually see an uptick in bicycle sales when the price of gasoline becomes painful for commuters who have options besides driving to work. The oil prices increases in 2004 (it went above $50 a barrel for a while in the fall, IIRC) was one of the things that allowed a lot of shops to survive that...

3/25/2026 4:23am Just a few questions- Does it currently have a shock and is there something about it you are looking to improve? Have you checked if all those options physically clear the frame? It's not always a given and can narrow your choices down a lot. Every picture I could find had the stock super deluxe Is there a service centre or shop close by that give you better support for certain brands? And do you have a budget? I'm a Push dealer so will obviously recommend the VT/x and SV8 if they fit. Pricing on the SV8 is very competitive...

3/21/2026 2:45am Nah. Top tube straight continuous to seat stays is very 2020. Now it’s all about the grasshopper. Steep down tube to low flat chainstay. And I’m all for it. Maybe your right, straight line is industrial design where grasshopper, is sex. as long as no one does steeper chainstays than top tube. 🤮

3/19/2026 12:26am Speaking to this point: " Downsizing one set of the pistons decreases the amount of fluid trying to return so may not create the same restriction or at least alleviate it some. " I would have to think it has more to do with smaller seals creating less friction. The amount of oil moving back and forth is dictated by the master cylinder, not the size of the caliper pistons (the smaller the pistons, the more distance they move for the same amount of lever travel). Also, if a big piston gets stuck even a little bit, it would affect...

3/19/2026 12:21am Can't say I've any time on Mavens, period (Wisco Pride n all) but this highlights why I never buy 1st gen anything. There's things you learn in development, then there's things you learn in the field after release. What's acceptable to the folx on payroll (lever feel/input here) may not be acceptable to the wider market. A smaller MC piston will provide a lighter touch when pushing bigger caliper pistons, but it necessitates longer throw due to fluid displacement in the system. There's no way of circumventing that because physics. So it looks like Magura has something right with the...

On ucimtbworldseries website, for both Loudenvielle and Val di Fassa there are schedules posted that include EDR Open categories. 3/9/2026 12:47pm I’m being sarcastic because most the women in my family would find a documentary featuring athletes discussing “menstruation and body image” more insulting than inspiring. It’s a sarcastic comment that didn’t come across well at all in text. I get for as many women in the “don’t define me by my gender” camp there are plenty in the celebrate my gender and body camp. And again I’m pretty hopeful they’ll actually do a good job with it and it will not be patronizing. i apologize my comment came across so poorly.

2/15/2026 1:42am It seems that whether we like it or not, 32-inch wheels and mountain bikes are going to be a thing. That thing may not permeate too deeply into all riding categories, but multiple sources from a variety of different brands have recently confirmed bigger wheels, both front AND rear, are in mountain biking's future. As a result, here's a dedicated thread to the new wagon wheels. Intel is that the larger wheels will be for mostly XC (no idea how the UCI wheel size limitation will work out), but 32-inch wheels on trail bikes are also likely. Again, it's not...

2/14/2026 1:37am Thanks a ton guys, got some ideas here. Our current two options; A feed basin from a farm being sold "new" for pretty cheap. 8 foot long, drains on both sides, sits about a foot and a half off the floor, so we could use the shower drain we already have and put the basin overtop this. It's not much more expensive than two drums cut in two and welded together. The other option we're looking at is the DIY tile sort of deal. Greenhouse poly "glass" for the walls as it's cheap for coverage, then do tile for the...

2/13/2026 7:22am Hello brake nerds. I subjected my partner and best friend to a year of brake swaps to get their opinions. We made a low production value video talking about our thoughts. I would also like to contribute some brake info because I actually took the time to disassemble and measure the master cylinder diameters. Really interesting how different the Lewis and Hayes feel with identical hydraulic specs. Lever geometry, leverage curve, return spring rate, seal friction, and pad compound all add up. Also I feel like formula would make a few running changes and be competing with the top dogs...
