I noticed quite a big grip difference on wet rocks and roots between Schwalbe's Soft and Ultra Soft compound, but no discernable difference on rolling resistance and wear. There are some rocks that I slip out with the Soft compound and that never happens with the US compound. I'll probably be riding US front/rear from now on since I don't...
The drool level is off the charts with this one. Rick Schubert snagged some pics of this proto Chromag steel-front-triangle freeride beauty during the World Cup in Whistler. Simple, clean and quite the juxtaposition with the pairing of the garage-made welding vibe and high-tech wireless SRAM XX DH drivetrain.

another +1 for never ever bringing back protected status. everyone has the same poles to ride in between. stay on course, go fast, make a result. keep human judgement out of it. (still absolutely gutted for lachie)

The unfair advantage isn't that the line outside the pole is faster, it's that they failed to pull whatever move or line they were trying to do BEFORE that point and ended up unable to keep it on track. What you're suggesting basically equates to a rider being able to skip a tricky section of track just as long as going around a course marker isn't faster. Which would turn the actual course into nothing more than a suggested route of travel. "The idea that minor mistakes or falls completely erase a race run..." - well yeah. If you fail...

Hi, thanks for your questions and for the kind words! We can’t recommend pairing LOUISE or MT5 parts with the MT7. The hydraulic ratios and designs are slightly different, which would change the lever feel. Of course, the best option would be upgrading to the RACE PRO 😎 But I totally understand that you already have two pretty cool brakes sitting in the basement! Here are some ideas: Alignment: For your current setup, I’d recommend the Piston Alignment Tool I mentioned earlier. At just $7, it’s a real little secret weapon for setting up the caliper. Unlike conventional caliper alignment...

Yes, we offer rebuild kits for the master piston and the lever bearing. And the oil reservoir cap and bleeding valve and clamps will be available as single parts. Here are the how-to videos: RACE PRO Support - MAGURA Bicycle Brakes & Spare Parts But we don´t offer pistons or seals for the caliper. This has a simple reason: These are VERY tricky to install and without special machines (which we use in our production line) it is very easy to damage the sealings / quad rings during assembly. You know we do have a mono-block caliper, which means you...

You can keep on asking, I'm still a bit here. 😉 I'm Ingo, CEO of MAGURA, and jumping in here for a few more hours as my colleagues have their off time. Happy to answer your question... love this "Hot Seat" format here... 🤩

Thanks for your questions, bottoms-up-brian! The MT7 and the RACE are both in our "Heavy Duty" class, meaning the total weight can go up to 225 kg. But the caliper of the RACE is a completely new construction, way stiffer (even stiffer than GUSTAV!) but we machined every gram of Aluminum away, so the caliper weighs the same as the MT7. But, yes, you're right.. the disadvantage of an Aluminum master is the heavier weight 😉 With our Carbotecture material we can build even lighter and more compact. That's why BMW is using our Carbotecture material for their motorcycle masters...

Hey... still one there, even if it's late... 😄 Hi, I'm Ingo, the CEO... welcome folks! Happy to answer your questions... 😉 Regarding your question about servicable caliper pistons: We only offer the piston of the lever as spare part, but not the pistons of the caliper. This has a simple reason: These are VERY tricky to install and without special machines (which we use in our production line) it is very easy to damage the sealings / quad rings during assembly. You know we do have a mono-block caliper, which means you have to install the quad rings and...

What's the little grub screw on the caliper? A secondary bleed port? It looks like the main caliper bleed port is up by the banjo. Also, FWIW, the reason why I use 2.3mm thick rotors on my brakes is because they have a tendency to stay straighter longer, not because of overheating 2.0mm. With 2.3s, I only have to retrue rotors in heavy use like once a month, whereas on 2.0 rotors it was like once a week. And the adjustments I'm making to 2.3s are much smaller, just the slightest pressure in 1 or 2 spots with a truing...

Yes, the circumferential channel makes it much easier to catch every air bubble. From our perspective, the Hayes approach is also more and more uncommon. We and our partners are very happy with our current solution. But we’re talking a lot about bleeding the caliper here, even though with our brakes, that often isn’t necessary at all. One advantage of MAGURA when bleeding: We explicitly recommend starting with our Fast Bleeding procedure, using just one syringe at the brake master. In practice, we often find that trapped air bubbles are located in the upper part of the brake system. With...

We deliberately use 12 and 19 mm pistons to reduce the pressure level within the brake system. Lower system pressure puts less strain on the system, especially the seals, and also improves the bite point because the hose expands less under pressure. This is also one of the reasons why we don’t use braided steel hoses. With the lower pressure levels of our system — roughly 20–60 bar during most braking applications — the additional benefit of a braided hose is comparatively small. With systems such as Brembo, on the other hand, there is a much stronger case for using...

The Race Pro line will come out next year. For the most part this would be tires with the previous 'Super Race' Turn-Up casing. A 29x2.4 Nobby Nic Trail Pro ( 11654142.02) weighs 1000g. Not a Radial though. They 29x2.4 Romy Trail Pro Radial (1040g) is quick despite what you might think of the weight number, and it is great for trail riding.
