The current Range VLT is great. 50 lbs, 170/160, good kinematics for solid pop and jive yet still with a high pivot (mid pivot) that lets you plow. I like that for the 50lb mark. The prior gen range VLT at 60 lbs was a good mauler at 180/170 but not much fun to throw around. I’d love to keep full power 170/160 but shave it down to 45 lbs.

Fazua doesn't really bother me anymore. I have over 700 miles on mine and its still ticking. It did arrive dead out of the box and in the US, QBP handles the service and they are wonderful. I don't think they are as bad as they used to be. Plus, power to weight wise they are really hard to beat. I would love for a manufacture to work on making a motor that is the size and weight of the Fazua that would make 80-85nm instead of working on making a million-nm motor.

The V10 XL is 29" stock. Are you sure this isn't converting it to a 27.5"? The axle position suggests it's raising the rear end up to compensate for the smaller wheel.

The F1 comparisons don't really make any sense beyond the fact that both are the pointy end of things. Unlike on pavement, ABS does not necessarily reduce stopping distance on loose surfaces. It can actually increase stopping distance in many scenarios. I honestly believe running ABS in a DH race would be detrimental more than anything. Trophy trucks would probably be a better analogy in this regard.

I wrote this on Pinkbike but will crosspost here to as I firmly believe ABS should not be involved in WCDH. I'm all for innovation in DH and I am absolutely fine with electronics in suspension but I strongly believe that ABS has no place in competitive DH. Braking ability and threshold braking are massively important skill that do separate riders. Having a system that would theoretically allow a rider to just full pull brake but not lock the wheels would be a huge advantage on most tracks and certainly would for low grip tracks or conditions. If anything DH riders and athletes in general are more professional in their training and racing nowadays, but a lot of times when an athlete says they are here to win, crush their opponents etc… a bunch of people online talk shit: “you need to be more humble”, “you aren’t good enough to talk like that”. DH is smaller but even Loic was getting tons of comments on Vital and PB calling him arrogant and hating on him because he said he wants to beat Jackson. @w4s answering your question here… If you like to ride off the back, definitely go longer chain stay. If you have the opportunity, just get all of the pieces now so that you can try everything without having to order new stuff in the future. with regards to the reach I don’t know if you should go with a shorter reach. I would say just keep the same front geometry that you’re used to and lengthen the rear. The increase in wheelbase is not a big deal since we get so much better handling out of the change.
