Great question. You'd think so, but no. Because the BB sits below the axles, and because FC and RC are measured from the center of the hub axle to the center of the BB, the FC and RC don't form a straight line. They form a slight "V" as they both dip down to the BB. Then you consult Pythagorus to get the exact difference in length. [Editor's note: This is wrong. See @kperras post below for full and correct explanation]

It‘s just one mm off but shouldn‘t front center plus rear center equal the wheelbase?

I wouldn't recommend it. Extremely short stroke coil shocks leave a lot to be desired. You have to run such a high spring rate to hit a reasonable sag number and not be bottomed out constantly. The progression of an air shock really lends itself to a shorter travel bike, unless that short travel bike has a VERY progressive leverage rate.

Stuff(bikes) is more expensive, but it operates in a totally different capacity. I paid the equivalent of $4900 for this in 1994. XT/LX spec.: It was a nice bike, but light years away from what we have now. In 2024, 30 years on, $6799 was MSRP for this: That $1900 buys so much more bicycle now it’s nearly nuts.

I almost completely agree with this review of the Narco Sight TQ. I was lucky to get an early sample of this bike and I’ve been riding it for several weeks in all different types of terrain. It has been more fun than any other eBike I’ve ridden. The reason I love this eBike is that it’s fun on any trail and not just the biggest and baddest trails. I’ve been equally impressed by the TQ motor/battery system. It doesn’t try to be a full power system but it’s great at everything full power bikes are bad at. For me...

Pretty much nailed it. I am basically a PO/Poodle Dog control lab rat as if I get within 5' of the stuff, I'm getting it. I do recall the days when I made the statement that "I'm immune to poison oak." Then I got it once about the size of a penny... then each time bigger/worse. I now keep a spray bottle in the back of my truck with a tea spoon's worth of dawn mixed with water in it. I also use a waterport so I can spray myself down with said spray bottle, then rinse trailside. Despite all...

You don't need Tecnu for dealing with poison oak, Dawn dish soap works fine. I react strongly to PO, and shower with Dawn after digging. Moderate water temp (don't want hot as it causes pores to open up and let the urisol oil in), lather up starting with hands and wrists first, then working to any other possibly exposed areas (arms, lower legs/knees, waist, neckline, face). Wash all clothes separate from normal clothes on sanitary cycle with extra rinse. I've been digging a new trail that goes right down a ridgeline that is a literal poison oak forest, and as...

That would be diabolical lol. Though I am interested in seeing how they incorporate the local north shore freeride legacy into the course. Wales has raw rock and mud. Tasmania has jungley ferns tunnels and stuff. I hope we see some elevated skinnies or something in the course to reflect the local area.

just curious, in the hardline vids it appears bulldog's major sponsor after red bull is DJI and he's riding a v10 with ext suspension. Im too lazy to do any actual digging, anybody know what's going on with his program this year?

Not sure it's particularly grassroots as its a super-exclusive invite only event that caters to a small group of athletes every need. It is sick though and pushing the sport and certainly needed.

You cannot make a living wrenching on bikes because it is so badly paid. You cannot afford bikes because they become so expensive. You cannot keep'em working in the long run because it makes very little economic sense. It's pretty effed up really

You sure about that? Seems like you are making a culture fight out of a discussion that has nothing to do with anything with the us. One might think you’re American yourself. fans would love a Sam Hill good bye tour. Hope monster and mondy get him out there a bit more the coming years.

I just bought this bike and it’s all time. I need a big ass battery and full power rig for what we ride in and around Tahoe. All the buds rode full power so it wasn’t a decision (I did see a guy on the trail with the new Norco e-bike - must be coming soon - and he said it pedaled great without the motor on). But the range is absolutely perfect. Has pop and feels really jibby, yet it’s a high pivot and slays the rough. I knew about this other rig and chose the range full fat...

I guess the question is how picky are you? No disrespect intended, but I think this forum is an assembly of the nitpickiest nitpickers in the world when it comes to brake lever feel and power. The new XT and XTR brakes are totally adequate for mountain biking and ebikes, and if you need more power, you can pair them with a big thick rotor (like a 220mm/2.0mm SRAM HS2). However, they are less powerful than some of their newest competitors* (Maven Ultimates, TRP DHR EVO, Hope Tech4 V4, etc), and the lever feel is less crisp than the classic...
