6/12/2026 9:13pm It makes perfect sense to me that the true fastest and best riders will rise to the top in horrible conditions, as opposed to the roll of the dice that we've seen at most races in the super competitive era of Q1, Q2, and a 30 rider final. The better the conditions are, the more I think they reward a gambler's mindset. Everyone is going to be going roughly the same speed and the only way to set yourself apart is going to be risking it all for the biscuit. Some will get lucky, some won't, everyone will be going...

6/9/2026 8:17pm I attended Lake Placid last year (my first ever world cup event) and wondered how they were making any money. Tickets were cheap and there didn’t seem to be a lot of folks in attendance at the XC races. I guess not enough to cover their costs.

6/5/2026 3:09pm When I did my scaphoid/navicular, you learn there are a lot of guys who just ride on busted wrist injuries that get better at first than worse, then ok, then worse, then disintegrate before they can ever get a surgery to stop it at "OK".

6/5/2026 12:36pm I dislocated the lunate bone in my left wrist 20+ years ago, It's a horrible injury that I still deal with. Hoping Bruni's surgery is succesful and he's able to come back, wrists are gnarly because of all the working pieces in it.

5/25/2026 2:54pm This a common straw man argument I see on this topic. It’s important to remember that anyone capable of going that fast uphill is only do so with a lifetime of skills as a foundation . Anyone in a pro xco race is likely never putting out 1500w in that race, and if the are it’s for about 5 seconds during a sprint finish. Theres just a lot more nuance man. No human is putting out world tour sprint finish power for the same duration as a 800wh battery Humans are creatures of the path of least resistance. If you...

5/22/2026 3:18pm I’m sure this access thing is going to be different in whatever area we are talking about. Different land managers, and perspectives. Here in Southern Oregon there are E bikes everywhere. Hikers and other groups have complained about them, but the forest service and the city of Ashland don’t have the manpower or the resources to enforce any of it. Basically like trying to stop a tsunami. The amount of rogue trails that have sprung up has went nuclear. The unexpected benefit is that everybody is spread out and it has seemingly decreased conflicts. This power argument is just a...

5/22/2026 3:17pm I'd prefer it if we give it time to gain the proof that it will cause conflicts. That extra evidence would help get regulation amount correct

5/22/2026 3:17pm This whole power war situation sucks. I spent years fighting for MTB trail access and I'm quite worried with the Class 1 eMTB players blatantly flaunting the spirit of the rules. For the first time, the anti-MTB crowd actually have a valid point. DJI and Specialized DGAF. None. Burn it all down.

5/14/2026 4:14pm Off topic but everyone in BJJ is on juice, it’s like saying Ronnie Coleman isn’t the greatest bodybuilder cuz of PEDs. You have to assume a lot of mtb racers are on PEDs, there’s no way the testing is any good. They can’t even figure out how to route a b line.

5/14/2026 6:24am The current Range VLT is great. 50 lbs, 170/160, good kinematics for solid pop and jive yet still with a high pivot (mid pivot) that lets you plow. I like that for the 50lb mark. The prior gen range VLT at 60 lbs was a good mauler at 180/170 but not much fun to throw around. I’d love to keep full power 170/160 but shave it down to 45 lbs.

5/5/2026 7:29pm See, I dislike comments like this because instead of commenting on the actual merits of my microspline hatred you claim that it stems from a lack of "ability" and that I am not "worthy" of wrenching because of my opinions. At no point did I say I struggle with any of it, my argument is an will always be that the XD driver is just a fundamentally better system to deal with. Not only does it provide a better interface for a cassette to sit on, but it makes the livability of a cassette significantly easier. Instead of relying on...
