Saw a YouTube vid recently of the specialized fancy European proto tyre factory where they make the pro racers tyres and it was mentioned that the dh team are using wire bead versions of the tyres

Got a few weeks on Butcher/ Eliminator Radial setup. Was on Conti Kryptotal DH SuperSoft F/ Soft Rear for a few years, then more recently on Magic Mary UltraSoft/Albert Soft in radial on an enduro bike. The specialized seem like a solid combination of the two, slightly slower rolling on climbs than the conti, but more sidewall support than the schwalbes. Heaps of traction in loose-over hard and off cambers, and survived a few solid rim strikes so far at 22/25 psi. Impressive in their traction on natural terrain. can't imagine the rear will have the longevity of the conti...

I have a few rides on the Specialized tires, Butcher Front / Eliminator rear on my 170mm bike from blown out dry to hero dirt in the backcountry (not purpose built or bike park). I also have a tacky chan + roamy in trail casing on my 130mm bike so have experience with radial. Main takeaways so far Improved grip over Conti DH (SS front, S rear) - Better braking right away was noticable, its like I added 15% braking power. It does not feel noticeably slower climbing on dirt than conti, although I haven't gone back to do a...

Anyone tried the specialized radials yet? Like the theory of radial tyres but didn’t get on with the Mary/albert combo, found them a bit bouncy and spec’s claim that theirs are a bit less radial might be a good middle ground

Watching the Lenzerheide World Cup earlier, both female and male got me thinking about which bike looked the hardest to ride. I’ve not had a dh bike for probably a decade so well out the loop on what they are actually like to ride now, but the demo and commencal both look the safest (for want of a better word)...

Liaison times that are awkward but manageable and adhere to any penalties that are incurred. Stages with small climbs or fire road sprints between sections to get away from the dh-lite that (uk) enduro had become

E-bikes were the death of enduro, no one’s buying the bikes anymore so the industry won’t hold it up. Question is will the same happen to dh bikes and racing, I honestly think it will, but will be more than happy to be wrong

Was at a race spectating and some goon was ripping a chainsaw with ear defenders on, someone walked up, pulled them off his head and said if I’ve got to listen to that then so have you!

First round of the ewsdr or whatever they are callling it this year next weekend and the course map has been released. Around 100km and 3100m of climbing over 2 days so looks like they are going back to bigger days out again.

Hope used to make a pressured bleed system, you fitted a special top cap to the lever and pressurised a bottle of fluid with the air in your tyre which forced the fluid through the system
