I have an Orbea Wild with the Bosch Gen 5 motor. Pretty impressed with it even with “only” a 600wh battery. I can get 5200’ of climbing with almost all of that climbing in tour+ at the default settings. Lots of room for tunability in the app too. I find the + modes to deliver power in a more natural way than the non + modes. For DH I run it in the highest power mode which is emtb+ goosed up to 100nm and the sliders all maxed out. DJI/Avinox: My local amflow shop had some info about upcoming updates, but seemed to have specifically not been told the battery capacity. Definitely wouldn't buy an ebike right now until the full avinox/amflow refresh details come out in a few weeks. Something 5Dev shared with me last week that I thought was neat—steel spindles that add around 500g low and central on the bike. They developed them last year with Neko/Frameworks as a clean/simple way to add weight to bikes instead of just slapping a chunk of lead to the bb. Only two options which limits compatibility, but a neat idea nonetheless. Ease of use and less SKUs. An air shock or fork adapts to everything from an XS to an XL rider with a shock pump by the average user. Changing coils is more involved, requires a workshop for the fork at least, different sizes come with different springs so you have 4 or 5 SKUs. And it's heavier. And more expensive as you have to buy another spring. Air is free.

To each his own. The good news is that in the next 5 years, I imagine we’ll have full power/full range batteries that are close to what a Relay weighs. For those who want more of a motorless experience, they can detune their bikes; anyone who wants more power can have it. We’re going to have our cake and eat it too in no time.
