Just watched Ben Cathros round up of the race and he twice mentions MAIDEN wins, not DEBUT wins as Rick keeps saying on the commentary but apart from that error I have to really take my hat off to him and Beaumont for their commentary yesterday.. they real did increase their hype for the last 10 and helped build some excitement. Beaumont has really steadied the ship in my opinion. And Rick deserves a lot of credit for not letting the criticism destroy his confidence

I don't think this has anything to do with environmental protection but instead the organisation of the event. Do you guys not remember how often course marshalls were busy fixing the tape when a racer missed a line and went through it during practice? Or how often tape got wrapped in a wheel and dragged with the rider for the remainder of the run? Not talking about all the helmet POV cam footage where at every stop during practice the racers needed to lift the tape to get off an on course. I think the pole are an improvement from...

This is actually something I brought up in a convo (on instagram maybe). I'm not sure if they do it now but they need to make scoring more transparent. You should visibly get a score in each 'category' from trick level to amplitude to execution to style to line difficulty, whatever, and it should ADD UP to a total score. AFAIK that is how the scoring currently works but they do not show the breakdown. I also think... I wondered that too. Fmb are in a tough position with Kaos tagging along and everyone else being a bit up & down to put it politely. Combined with the desperation move of Maes putting a floating brake arm on the rear end of the bike. Snailbeach is in Shropshire, England. Shropshire being home to many DHers before nearby mid/north Wales became the spot. Even our muchly improved Neil Beaumont comes from the area. And let's not forget Pearce Cycles, Dave, Lyndsey and all they have done for mountain biking.

Why would that be? Asa and Pinky are in the top 5 WC overall, Bodie has qualified 2nd and qualified for all WC races all three are 21 or younger. Luca Shaw has won a race and was 3rd overall last year. It feels to my like the US is doing well in the WC races and getting better. JMHO.

I get missing the Red Bull free coverage, and I agree the commentary and broadcast quality still have room for improvement compared to then WB started. But if you're in New Zealand, it's actually one of the cheapest places in the world to watch the World Cup. MTBWS TV is only US$5.99 a month, which is about NZ$10, because New Zealand doesn't have a Warner Bros / Discovery broadcast partner and they use their own Staylive platform. Yeah...saw mention by Ryan Sipes in a moto post that everyone sucked at Red Bud because nobody rides trials any more. Tried to think about it but didn't make a lot of sense for the track conditions guys were facing. Now, DH...I remember guys like Dave Cullinan & Tomac getting hung up in DH rock gardes & doing all sorts of track stands , manuals & crank/pedal stabs to get through rock gardens. Almost useless skill on modern tracks since nobody even has a place on track that is slow enough to track stand. Man...trials events at mountain bike races...

I'm hoping this is the appropriate place to ask about this. If you look at this video, from about 3:55 to 4:15, you'll see a couple of the Whoop padded signs. They appear to be inside the course. There are course marking poles outside each of them. At other places on the course, though, the Whoop signs are outside the poles. My question is this: If a rider hits one of the signs that are placed inside the poles, is the rider considered to have "left" the course? Incoherent. We have. More independent media than ever. Better insight from vlogs and socials than ever. A live broadcast. Insanely fast young racers, more new tracks than ever and 9-10 races per season not including Worlds. And yet. It's a "bad direction"?

Hottake, The new Q1 and Q2 formats are great and I much prefer it over rider protected status as its probably the most fair way to narrow the field down. Does it mean some really popular riders lose out? Yep. Does it also mean that seasonal consistency is more rewarded in WC overall standing points? Also yes. Seems odd to have both protected riders AND riders trying to qualify all in one group. It's either we lock the field to the same 30 riders for each race or everyone needs to qualify for finals.
