6/7/2024 2:33pm I know this forum gets used for discussing things like who is on form and whatnot but how good is that first off-camber grassy bit in the DH race?!?! I love it, seeing riders navigate that has been an absolute treat and I love having a section like that in a WC race

5/24/2024 1:47pm I don't agree. Which is fine. We haven't had riders who qualified 60-30 on TV since freecaster days. So actually hard to remember..but I do recall a lot of sloppy riding that wasn't very interesting. But everyone has their own reasons to tune in. As for actually spectating at the races. The difference between 30 or 60 men on the hill for a one hour practice session is peanuts. I don't see it as an argument. And according to people who've been to a world cup this year the new quali-semi combo makes for a jam packed day of spectating...

5/23/2024 11:03pm ?? The 5min gaps for the top 10 plus protected riders give the broadcast the ability to show full runs.

5/23/2024 10:25am I think the issue is with lack of feeder series, which at least in the US seems to be growing. I just dont think the best way to get to the top of the sport is to try to qualify for the premier elite class for 5 years until you are good enough to qualify. You could have qualifiers. For example: Top 10 amateur's at the windrock national in their respective class earn the opportunity to qualify at a world cup or something to that effect basically. I don't like always comparing it to Motocross but they have had this...

5/20/2024 11:20pm I think it's worth pointing out a couple of things: - The men that qualified 31st to 60th and the women that qualified 11th to 15th were never televised by Red Bull outside of a 30 second highlight reel. This resulted in no real exposure for those riders unless they happened to be on the hot seat when the televised...

5/20/2024 10:56pm I've said it before and I'm gonna keep saying it; mocking Ric's accent is a sh*tty thing to do. He's got a lot of stuff he needs to improve but we can do better than schoolyard insults.

5/15/2024 4:49am I was born in Poland, but I grew up in California....spent 40 years there. Now I'm back in Poland...as luck would have it....in Bielsko-Biała. For the past 3 years I've been riding most of the trails that'll be used at the event. Prior to that, my resume includes mostly Skegg's Point and Braille in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a run down Mt. Lemmon outside of Tuscon, and some Tapia Canyon (Castaic, California). I'm old and mostly ride motorcycles with MTB stuff peppered in here and there. Nevertheless, I think I have some unique credibility here. So if you will endulge...

5/8/2024 10:39pm Loic won the race in sector 2 where he somehow gained 2 seconds over most people. All this talk about flat courses and hard tails, if you actually look at the sector times you'd realise that the electric bikes actually didn't even win the flat sections. Benoit Coulange was fastest in both split 4 and 5, Loic was 3rd and 10th.

5/8/2024 6:56am I think you need to take the rose coloured glasses off. The red bull days weren't as great as what you think. Most pro's got paid bugger all, the prize money was like 1k for a win, which is just a joke. The viewers got a good product, but at the cost of the support entirely dependant upon bike companies advertising budget, which isn't exactly sustainable, and wasn't delivery for the majority of athletes competing, only the top 10 or so got a decent salary. Now i'm definitely not saying that WBD will fix it, and make it better than...

5/5/2024 5:03am I actually think the 30 men 10 women is necessary for the sport going forward. I think it's fine. We need a better TV product, 60 30 isn't it, it's terrible. It takes way to long, you don't see most people's runs anyway, and then we arbitrarily swap timing for the top 10 to have full viewed runs anyway. What we need is a proper continental series behind the WC and to develop a legit feeder series. Look at how many men's entrants there at Fort Bill. It's ridiculous, they're racing for 60th and get no coverage or prize money...

12/23/2023 1:30am Very close to some of my points I've made before in this debate. Keeping the cozy UCI run, RBTV broadcast series was always going to reach a dead end of sorts (probably very soon). In terms of potential for outside sponsorship etc. While things were great for lots of "real" fans. It's clear that the ones who won't now tune in care more for their entertainment than they do the sport. Which is fine of course. But, you can't have the cake and it it and all that. More prize money for riders, more outside sponsors, more professionalism etc... have...

12/23/2023 1:29am if you don't like it enough to pay for it, fair enough. it seems lot of people don't care much at all about racing or just so little they don't have to pay for it. so it wouldn't be a problem for most if racing and or streamin will be shut. will discovery pay riders? probably not or not yet. if not even the special interest fans are keen on racing who should be? so why paying the "actors"? the thing is if we stay the cheap bastards we are and watch it from whatever site we don't have to...

10/7/2023 2:18pm They have done some things right and some things need improvement. Exactly what we expected switching to a new format and Discovery. So many people on here are so misinformed it's mind-blowing. Blaming ESO/Discovery for UCI and vice versa. Change is automatically scary to the misinformed and fear is the mindkiller.
