1/18/2026 4:30am Pivot do not own that suspension design. It is Dave Weagle’s and he has openly talked about offering it to other brands (Atherton for one).

1/16/2026 10:09pm A huge benefit for electronic derailleurs is service time. Which is also a big reason why SRAM have pushed electronics to begin with. For mechanics it means everytime they do a rebuild/bearing swap it means no derailleur shenanigans.

1/14/2026 4:17am Do you know how scary a deep front wheel would be to ride with any kind of wind? At a Kamikakze style race with no jumps it probably would be OK, anything else I doubt it. Do you remember Camille Balanche's scary crash in Andorra off that drop/jump when she got caught by the wind? Andorra would be a race where this kind of deep wheel would be an advantage, but the risk is just not worth it.

1/13/2026 10:08pm Idk, if aero really gave you a 1s advantage, teams would already be doing it. But riders are braking a ton, hitting sections at precisely the speed they need to (jumps, rough sections, turns), and fairings are not without costs. I'm sure on many tracks it can help for certain sections, but there must be a reason why literally no teams (since Sam Hill) have done much with it.

1/13/2026 10:07pm Do aero fairings on downhill bikes really make sense? Considering that on road bikes, 80-85% of aero drag comes from the rider. On the bike, a large part of the aero drag are the wheels, where we have large and knobby tires, so how effective deep rim aero wheels would be needs to be tested. Considering the issues with cross-wind stability on these deep wheels, it could be outright dangerous to go over larger jumps at any kind of side winds with them. I think that the easiest aero gains are to be had in clothing (aero socks, skin suits...

1/13/2026 11:09am If only Aero was that simple. Plenty of DH teams have tested in the past (most recently FMD and Canyon) but NONE have taken it further than that. There are just too many variables in DH. For example anything that helps with straight-line will have a massive negative when there is any kind of cross wind or need to turn.

1/13/2026 10:16am As far as I can tell, they've been selling well. Specialized may have produced a smaller first couple of runs on them, considering the state of bike sales.

1/9/2026 11:42pm I find the continental to be one of the more stiff casings. I'm a serial tire burper in corners, it's one of the few that keeps the sealant and air inside the tire. The radials feel very disconnected in comparison. Great on tech, but a bit weird in mach chicken corners.

1/7/2026 12:07pm I like Dak but I think some vital users have a slightly biased view on him. Sick guy, love listening to him, still very fast. But I think it’s very healthy and appropriate for sports teams to sign new younger talent.

1/7/2026 12:06pm I am not one to dis someone but that guy is sooooo annoying announcing DH. He seems perfect for the pits and maybe in corral post race but commentating he is super in accurate with what he is saying - ____ ALMOST OUT THE FRONT DOOR every 3rd rider. The nonsense that dribbles out of him is just an embarrassment. It's gotta be crazy hard but they need to replace him. Rewatching all the races from 2025 and if my wife is the room I have to put headphones so she doesnt have listen to him!

1/6/2026 7:59am Seem is the key word here... It's just a matter of understanding the quickest way to find a solution.. Making frames and swingarms takes a good amount of time, resources, and money. A bolt on dropout is a quick way to figure out the next step..
