Our fork crowns and axle lugs are sandblasted prior to Cerakote. We also polish tens of thousands of aluminum parts per month here at our facility that are then sent to an outside vendor for anodizing. I was just providing my experience as a manufacturer. I wouldn't be able to comment on what a supplier might charge. As a component manufacturer, polishing and anodize comes at a lower cost. Darren

Dario is the man…? Beyond this meme I made, he is also pretty detached from real world consumers. I’ve heard he typically says something is “cheap” or very “competitively priced” during their podcast. When another host asks him how much it is - he doesn’t know. 🤨

So this is kind of hilarious to me because forbidden just ships a pile of parts along with a frame that isn't even put together. Having built/QC checked a lot of bikes from Transition, Ibis, Cannondale, Orbea, and Forbidden I can honestly say that the QC on the Forbidden frames are absolutely stellar, on par with Ibis carbon (Ibis alloy leaves a lot to be desired). Unfortunately, with bike brands that ship just frame and parts end up leaving a lot of their bikes "QC" impression on the skills of the builder building the bike. If your headset creeks, or...

I've had more issues with a stumpjumper and an enduro than I have any of my forbidden bikes. 🤷♂️ I have only had their v2 versions though, no idea what the v1's were like.

I know full well what a four bar linkage is. Or a 6-bar. By your logic, we could have 15-bar linkages, think of the marketing!! By your logic Canyon's DH bike is a 6-bar. Linkage driven single pivot is not a four bar. You're looking at the suspension characteristics not the number of links, so it's a single pivot. Same for Delta.

The measured with the same, constant lever force. It is likely that at different lever forces the brakes behave differently compared to each other. So the test results and your real life experiences (where the finger force constantly varies) can both be true. Even more so when you factor in different brake pads, rotors, bleeds, etc.

Kinda derailing this thread now, but a couple of counter arguments: -XTR, XT, and SLX aren't "wildly" different in the results, there's about 10% decrease in recorded power between each of them with stock pads (they didn't test XT and SLX with the Sinter pads). Since they used the average of 20 decelerations, I would say there is some underlying (=real) reason for the differences. -TRP's DH-R EVO always felt a bit low on brake-power-to-finger-power ratio for me, compared to several other brakes... -remember that they tested with constant power at the lever (4 kg of force on the levers...

Analog riders are the new kooky single speeders. If you think motors make riding too easy then please don’t do the math for how much mechanical advantage gears give you. There isn’t a lot of juice to squeeze from frames since we’re mainly hitting human rights issues on how good a frame can be while still being affordable. We’re still probably not paying the true price for bike when you factor in environmental and human effects of the manufacturing process. That’s where I see the biggest need for innovation. Great question. I don't know yet. I'm going to ride the fork when it gets back without any additional info, and then follow up with Push to get the details. Whenever possible, I try to know less during a product test so I can hopefully avoid confirmation bias.
