How do we actually if the braided hose makes the brakes any better? I’ve always thought that it only protects the outer shell which is not so critical in cycling. I assume all hydraulic brake hose have hard plastic innertube that withstands the pressure and does the magic.

Fox knows that if you really want an USD fork you will deal with the hub issue one way or another. Can’t imagine an actual Fox USD fork customer saying “oh no nevermind I am obsessed with my current front hub and I am also too poor for a wheel build Sad

And yet at the rear where most of the rider weight is and where most of the heavy hits are taken we comfortably run 12mm hollow axles at lengths that are 30% higher. Weird.

This is simple physics and 100% an incorrect way to install a rotor, assuming they intend to use it to stop the bicycle while it's moving forward and brake on the left side. Imagine the force vectors a brake applies and the constraints of material. It's quite achievable to bend or fold a rotor. It's much more difficult to expand its outer diameter. And that's exactly the directions forces are applied when the rotor is installed incorrectly vs. correctly. Not sure how that happened at the top level of the sport, but then I have worked at a "top" bike...

Don't be silly. The bosch motors are far from obsolete, there's a lot of integration and quality of life features that the DJI doesn't have.

I think the European Union are going to 'outlaw' anything above 750 watts (not sure about Nm) in the near future, which to me is fine. We are also stuck with a 25kph (15.5 mph) cut off with assistance. I think, for where I live (UK) that upper limit of 750 watts, and 20 mph cut off would be the sweet spot. Thats for emtb and e-roadie/commuters. I think if that was applied across the globe, manufacturers could then divert their efforts to bringing down weights of batteries and motors and improving the range/endurance of the machines.

It's possible to use them wrong. If you follow the procedure that makes the most of them they're great, quite an improvement over the standard process. If you don't, and take the same kind of approach you would with a brake that doesn't have them then they kinda just get in the way. - Back out crosshair screws - Push on caliper to move it inboard so outer pad is fully in contact with rotor - Tighten down caliper bolts until you just can't move the caliper by hand (not until play is gone, i mean until you are unable...

I don't believe that test in the slightest, I went back to back and there is absolutely a huge difference in feel and grunt for the same input force. I didn't touch the pads/rotors anything else. There was a fresh bleed, check, swap lever, test again and it was night and day. I see you've questioned some of the results yourself?

I've never used them myself but from what I've heard from other people the crosshair alignment on the Hayes sounds great on paper, but not quite so useful in practise.

FFS. You know how there's those grumpy commenters on the other site that call every E-Bike a motorbike or moped? This is that, and I hate it. The fun of an E-Bike is that it takes a lot of the effort out of pedalling, but it still feels like youre riding a mountain bike. This is a literal motorbike conversion, but with MTB geo. Gross.

Haven't seen the new Bonnell brought up. I wouldn't post anything about it here except, and I can't believe I am typing this, Sam Hill is riding it at a bike park in one of their new promo vids. I hope all you class 3 haters are wearing your diapers because you are about to poop yourself:

Not quite yet, I'm going to wait until the next two sessions are complete before getting into that. After each run I record notes on general feel and "perception of speed" before looking at the actual time. It is already quite interesting in regards to the data, not the results I was expecting for this track. The shocks being tested are both Marzocchi Bomber CRs (Fluid Focus tune and Avalanche racing tune) and the Vorsprung Telum.

Not trying to be rude, just highlighting the cost differential and relative value proposition. The average EE Wings customer is probably okay with the cost of the bolt and it's good to know you are pricing it in a way that covers your costs and makes it viable to produce. Personally I'm a little concerned with the trend towards bikes being more and more expensive and would love to see more effort being put into value and utility oriented product improvements rather than the high end stuff that tends to grab attention and headlines, while offering little actual innovation. Those...

It’s an extra 10% braking surface per wheel revolution. If you don’t notice that it’s because you’re nowhere near the limit on the 200s, which is totally fine. Just don’t preach that as gospel when it’s clearly not the case.

You use the same brake fluid for 5 years at a time, and then claim you're sure the fluid isn't contaminated. It contradicts itself because the only way of knowing what's inside is to do a service and visually inspect the fluid. 5 years...
