mtbjoe Added a reply to Nerding out on Brakes shall we? Not another tech deraliment
1/29/2026 3:12am I did the radic/maven combo at least 1-2 years ago. Downgrade from stock. Longer throw, hate maven pad changes.

1/13/2026 4:30am Radic has near identical pistons with no insert. Trick stuff as well. If there’s flex with the phenolic insert, might get crisper action without

1/12/2026 10:17am Melting? They are hollow and could deform easier than the steel pistons for sure

1/12/2026 9:45am No I mean the phenolic inserts would deform, leading to inconsistencies. I understand they are there for temperature purposes but I’ll see how it goes without them

1/12/2026 5:50am Anyone run their hope brakes without the phenolic insert? Seems like they could have the potential to deform and be less uniform than just the steel pistons

1/6/2026 2:59am GR4s have been some of the biggest dissapointments recently. Much harder lever pull, deadstroke longer than V4 with bearing mod, pad clearance way worse. V4 much preferred and more solid.

1/5/2026 6:36am Can anyone confirm the most recent radic brakes have a steel master cylinder? Mine appears to be plastic

1/4/2026 12:29pm I went to 10mm bearings on my hope V4s and have never had any locking up issues. Not even close. Yes, they required some filing to make space but can’t tell on silver levers

11/3/2025 4:48am Unfortunately I’ve had the opposite experience….taking the GR4s off and putting back on the V4s

10/30/2025 3:18pm Raceface Turbine is #1 despite my preference for Deity stuff. Went from a 5 supervillian household to 5 raceface turbines. They are that much better. Full stop. First titanium spindle maker will make bank with the turbines btw--hurry up already! Burtec B-rage were an interesting novelty.
