Is there anything specific I should consider if I replace my current Shimano XT RT-86 200mm discs in my Saint brakes with either Magura MDR-P 220mm or Hope 220mm discs? Both options are floating, and the Magura discs seem to be a great bargain right now at Bike-Discount for 38 euros each. My pad policy is to replace new Shimano...

I'm curious about why Mondraker's MIND system didn't succeed. The system has distance sensors in the front fork and rear suspension pivot. Mondraker could have easily done the basic position based derivates and therefore general suggestions for end user on balance and suspension setup on their web portal. I have this system on my bike, but the electronic hardware keeps...

It's weird that Acerbis, what had been the crown prince of molded plastics for 2 wheels, hasn't been successful in the MTB field. Seems like they were the first to market in the 80's with rotor covers.

Nothing really new here, but EXt working on some "normal" looking mud gards! Hope that fox offers a similar one in the future. Gives the USD fork kind of a more "normal" look. (I say normal just because im not used to USD forks in mtbs, but they do look good)

can we please stay rumors in here?! i get that these discussions are fun, but also annoying to most who just want to read about new tech/rumors and don‘t want to scroll through pages of off-topic discussions regarding chainstay length/right amount of travel/dropper post insertion/ etc. thx guys!

I'm more curious about the new bike rack that mounts to the front wheel of a car. Is it available for older 4 bolt hubs?

I know better than to engage with this, but no, that won't fix the problem. I've put a lot of time into actually trying to understand what this might do and what it really means. There are loopholes in the current tax system that should be closed, no question. Those loopholes unfortunately do not add up to anything close to the deficit. Everyone out there going "wealth tax" or "tax unrealized gains" has no idea what they are saying. Its equally as dumb as the tariff thing, because it will have second and third order impacts we all aren't willing...

I bet this new Norco rides really well. But that aside, thanks what I hate about ebikes- suspension no longer matters, geometry, compliance, none of it matters anymore. The only thing that really matters is the powertrain and the brakes. People fret over things like the quality of the display, whether you can add overdrive to your older motor via a firmware update, etc rather than how the bike rides. Crappy climbing geometry doesn't matter since you can pedal seated with the dropper down. Descending geometry is less critical because the much lower CoG a motor+battery gives you makes up...

Some of the scotts had a cooling "duct" (ie a hole in the headtube) but it doesn't seem like they all do. I don't think I;ve ever seen a shock that was killed by excessive heating - the Polyurethane o-rings the Fox often use in the damper sealhead are only rated to 80 degrees C, so if they were exceeding that there would be major problems. I do sometimes see scorching on those, where it looks like the very surface of the shaft got really high but I doubt the entire shock gets overheated in that case either. Like @CascadeComponents...

You wrote a coupla interesting bits. To me it sounds like the pads may be sitting too low over the rotor, which may allow them to run on the rotor arms. Light-med braking may not create a vibe but harder pulls will as you may be getting a little bit extra stopping power each time the arm passes through the pad, and that extra bite causes the vibration. Check the rotor wear marks on the little triangle transition from the brake track to the arm and compare it to the wear mark that lines with the outside/top of the pad/outer...

there's a huge myth to the influencer/content creation story that always seems to be ignored. the myth is that "you too can have it all" because all you need is a selfie stick, gopro and social media. "there are no 'gate keepers' any longer like back in the olden days" is a line i often hear. i'd wager passing through the gates (held by billion-dollar companies that control the algorithm) to success is infinitely more difficult now than it ever was in 1987, 1996, 2003 or 2011. it's no different than an actor from a small midwest town going to...

I don't know in the rest of the world, but where I ride (east of France) covid has messed things up quite a bit. We used to organize rides through a messageboard and there could be big rides (up to 20 or 30 people sometimes, a bit of a mess :p), it had started to decline before covid but despite the bike boom during covid, the messageboard is now dead, now there are small groups through whatsapp and other networks like that. People's riding habits have changed, no more big rides, a few buddies here and there, a decent minority...

A couple of notes on this one. 1. Coil shock strokes are defined with the bottoming bumper removed. So a 65mm stroke shock can only achieve a maximum of 60-62mm due to the solid height of the bumper. 2, On-board data acquisition is not able to explain why one shock is better performing than another as it's only capable of telling you "what" not "why". A good use of the data is defining what suspension velocities you should use for your dyno tests via tools such as histogram data. Darren

One really interesting thing I've learned from this thread and zfc, is that it's worth buying the expensive chains, xtr or x01 as they last so much longer when taken care of properly. So that's super interesting

How do you keep your chains clean? What’s the most efficient way? Has anyone build any automated solution like a chain washing machine? I think this is inportant part of the equation.

FWIW, based on a tightness testing fixture we have at work (measuring pressure drop at 50 mbar pressure levels and the like), I'd use compression fittings instead of push in fittings. Somewhat stiff hoses so they don't buckle and close off under vacuum is a good choice too. As for luerlock fittings off Aliexpress, I don't have the best experience... I've had to crank down on them with pliers to make them seal at least somewhat reliably... EDIT: as for separate machines, what about using the machine just to apply vaccum and pressure and using external fluid tanks? That way...
