I don't have one but have ridden a Raww Jibb and that would be my choice. I will have one some day.

If nothing else, even at the same temperature, a flame will also burn off oily residue while an air gun might not.

RE: glazing issues. I also run the TRP S05E rotors also and occasionally drag brakes, depending on trail, depending on how steep. But that's cause it's steep, and they certainly are getting hot (I have a rotor shaped burn mark on my right arm from the last time I crashed - bike landed on me and rotor touched my arm for like 2sec before I could shove it off). They are my favorite rotor because of how true they come out of the box, and how quiet. For myself and others using them, the HS2 is decent and widely available...

Unpopular opinion: I prefer center lock over the six bolt. The rattle doesn't bother me.

The designer should be selecting an appropriate fixing size/tool size for the application. Good design should make it easy for the user to get it right and hard for them to get it wrong.

Just because that is what is on your bike, does not mean it's well designed, some of these fixings/torque values are probably not the appropriate choice. In your example.the thread size is completely different between the two fixings though, so I would expect a different torque. Ideally this would be with a different tool size also. There is a great book called The design of everyday things, by Don Norman that I would recommend reading on the subject.

jsray Liked a reply to forum topic How often do you service your fork?

1/10/2026 2:02am
I don't track my rides. Strava is dumb. I ride at most 3 times a week for about an hour or so, but I also use my bike to walk the dogs sometimes. I do lowers once every 3-4 months. After 2 lower services, I drop the fork off for a full rebuild. Do lower services more often. Fresh fluid, foam rings, and dust wipers will go a long way. It's easy and you can get it done in garage in about an hour.

This is where the bleed port sits (in a spot where the air can travel out - that's why the diaphragm has been redesigned). I've bled several of these by now via the bleed port with good results each time.

Buckets Up Liked a reply to forum topic Cannondale sv2000 rear shock question

You’d be much better served saving the money you’d use for a shock to invest in a modern bike. As unique as that Cannondale was, full suspension bikes from the era are extremely outdated and not really ideal for any application. I suggest looking at gravel bikes with more relaxed geometry or even something like a rigid bike-packing focused rig if you’re just going to be tooling around on the road for a while. Then when you’re ready you can buy a new mountain bike and have two awesome steeds. If you can even mount a modern shock on that...

I’m not too sensitive with rolling resistance so can’t comment on that but it sounds like a kryptotal super soft will be fine for you. Don’t overthink it.

Finally got hold of a set of GR4s after years on the Tech 4 V4. As with all things Hope the build quality is a work of art. First impressions: I bled the ‘old’ way without using the bleed port because I didn’t have the adapter for the funnel yet .Hopes new bleed video gives a few new steps which seem to work good. Lever is a touch heavier throw than the v4 but much shorter throw before bite due to the new cam design. It’s still very light. Extra hook on the lever is really nice, way more secure...
