Long time lurker in the forums, thought I'd finally chime in since I own an Edge. Riding background: 43yo ex middle-to-back of the pack pro. i keep reading this and i keep finding my brakes the opposite, V4 braided paired with hope adapters and 2.3mm rotors, so i'm wondering, given that every other Hope brakes i try always have the normal hoses and feels soft/spongy, and mine and some customers that i installed, all with braided hoses, have a nice and defined/firm bite point, what hoses do you have? While Hope's claim is that there's no difference, i really don't believe it, stiff hoses do make a difference, especially in feel.

you asked to correct you if wrong. i didn't correct you. the moment you hit "buy" the brakes in basket are yours. not when you finally paid. i paid mine like a full month later. you just have all your infos in before the drop and then react fast by adding the product to your basket.

For the Schwalbe Radials, Trail is akin in thickness and weight to Maxxis EXO+ and Conti Enduro. Their Gravity is more like Maxxis DD or Conti DH thickness, but closer to Maxxis DH weight. Some actual weights to back this up for tires I've purchased: Albert Trail Pro Ultra Soft 29: 1,163g. Albert Gravity Pro Soft 27.5: 1,289g Magic Mary Trail Pro Ultra Soft 29: 1,170g. I have only used my V4 brakes with narrower rotors, but it works fine with the 1.8mm and 2.3mm rotors I have used. The vented rotors are way too expensive for a consumable part.

My experience has been that Hayes rotors howl at a lower pitch than some, but just as loudly (when wet with metallic pads).

I've always been wary of buying anything bike-related on Amazon. The only thing I do buy is tools because of how seldom I use them although their tolerances aren't amazing. On the topic of pads, has anyone here tried sintered Koolstop pads? They are significantly cheaper than Shimano pads/Galfers/other big brands.

Fake pads will ruin your rotors in a handful of rides. I learned this the hard way, cut short a big Whistler day for me and ended out being an expensive mistake. Buying a full set of pads and rotors in Whistler isn't fun. Chains and pads are pretty much guaranteed to be fakes on Amazon/Ebay/Alibaba/Walmart/Temu/etc, especially if they're listed at <50% MSRP. If informed Vital posters are making this mistake, just how many average weekend warriors are ruining their shit with all these fakes? The scale of Amazon is so huge it's hard to believe, all the counterfeits lumped...

like @sprungmass said if you you light pressure and keep moving it should be fine - it takes a while to remove material from steel. If it was easy to remove too much they would be cooked in a second on the trail as well

Got these in the mail the other day from the UK. Heard some rumblings about the looks on here, they do look decidedly old school but I’m excited to see another player in the game. Will report back once I finally get them mounted.

Thanks, I will give these Sinter guys a shot. I was always intrigued after reading the Enduro Mag brake shootout and how powerful they are. Also the fact couple of you here are saying they are super silent so these should be the ticket to a peaceful descent. @Pedal Bob There "performance organics" from likes of Trickstuff and Galfer are something special and can't be compared to the organic offerings from SRAM/Shimano. I have faded SRAM metallic pads on our long mountain descents while had zero issues with Trickstuff pads. No change in feel, power and last a long time.
