Everybody does this. Magazines, Pinkbike, etc. drives me crazy but it’s the norm.

I like what SC did with the new Megatower in terms of modern geometry. In frame storage should be a goal of all bike makers for these kinda bikes (trail or enduro) so bravo on that. SC has never been shy about having eye-watering prices, being the first to drop a bike for over $10k nearly ten years ago. That said, for a minute they offered a bunch of their bikes in alloy base level versions. They could likely do so with this as well as the newer Bronson and sell tons of them.

500mm reach on a large is likely while we'll see Jack Moir on a MEDIUM at 6'1".

Have evil started adding aluminum sleeves into the front triangle where the rocker link bearing spacers rest? Because if not, it's a shame...that front triangle will be chipping away and start creaking...like the few I have disassembled...It also looks like the head tube is wearing a diaper....

was all sounding really good till you said 435mm CS..... Get the CS 90% the length of the reach (or more!) and we are talking. 63 deg H/A, 500mm reach and a short CS is going to be understeer city when tired IMO. You would have to be very pro-active weighting the front wheel. I also realize I am criticizing a bike I've never ridden lol. But I've owned bikes with similar geo, the Longer CS is better IMO.

That's an interesting point and something I was discussing with a rider from Central California last week. Again it's terrain dependent. If the soil is loamy and relatively free of rocks and roots, then I could understand (at least in theory) how running higher pressure would give the knobs more bite. But here in the Southeast US there are roots and rocks everywhere, when it's wet you need to air down for traction on those slippery surfaces. Increasing air pressure in the wet in this terrain would guarantee a sketchy day on the bike.

Anything in the low to upper 20s is common. There is no single tire pressure that's going to work for everyone. Terrain, conditions, bike type, bike setup, rider weight, riding style, and tire size are some of the variables to consider. I raced a lot of XC back in the day so I always wanted to run as low a pressure as possible. Now that I only ride trail and big, pedally backcountry rides, I run higher pressures (24 f / 27 r) because I want support and feedback from my tires. In the wet season I run a bit...

@SprSonik personally I say medium because having ridden small, medium, and large sized bikes, I know I can grab a size medium and be comfortable on it with very few tweaks. Also, listing out the geometry numbers is simply not practical for 99% of riders. I ride 4 different bikes on a regular basis and couldn’t even tell you the exact reach numbers on all of them, I just know they’re between 435-450mm haha I like to believe the industry has stabilized over the past few years and sizing has become more or less universal amongst the larger brands. Also...

Sharp rocks and high speeds do damage. Here in Colorado on my trail bike with a tannus tubeless insert if I go any lower than 26f/29r I pinch flat and i'm at 185lbs. I run cushcore on my enduro bike which keeps me from puncturing but sometimes you just bend the rim instead.

Be nice if bikes came back to externally routed cables. There are holes in the bottom of top tubes now to hold tools/tubes why not add a cable grommet and have them run externally? Makes servicing so much easier.

I predict more and more companies will choose to route cables this way, leaving customers with no option but to use shit headsets and a limited choice of stems. In around 18 months there will be companies reverting to more traditional routing and using it as a selling point on their new frames. You have to love this industry sometimes.

I have a bad habit of looking through the websites of bike and component manufactures when I should be doing work for college... oh well. Anyway, Looks like the new stuff from rockshox will have two "Debonair+" air cans, both with negative volume tuning Additionally, there is a "RC3 hydraulic bottom out control" damper option. So if id have to take a wild guess, the RC3 HBC will be the "Ultimate" level shock with the RC3 being the select plus.

Ebike customers are wierd man. That’s why trek has nine thousand flashing lights and completely unnecessary features for an experienced rider. (I know when I’ve burped air in my tires or my shock isn’t doing what it normally does.) It’s why unno just made the world’s visually longest seat tube. If you ever walked into an ebike specialty store the stuff is just way way more out there compared to the very homogeneous and subtle looks that dominate road and mtb cycling. I think it’s honestly cool that brands are putting some extra effort into distinguishing themselves in looks and...
