7/2/2024 11:10am As someone who's going to be selling their current gen Stumpy Evo in the next year I'm glad to hear Specialized care about my resale value. 😄

7/2/2024 9:00am For the last year, there have been daily posts pondering about the new Stumpjumper. PB is already getting paid to give it a 5 star review, why the hype?

7/2/2024 8:09am My takeaway is that by removing the Evo from the lineup, there’s far less blurred boundaries on what the enduro bike of choice will be when the Enduro bike does come out. I think Specialized is trying to make more of a distinction which segment their bikes play in.

7/2/2024 7:49am RE: New Stumpy... My big takeaway is when the company who arguably has the largest capex budgets in the industry keeps outputting new models that are small evolutions (Epic EVO, new Stumpy, don't forget Jordan beat Finn/Loic on the "old" demo last season), not revolutions, that tells me we've really hit a plateau of technological progression. This isn't a bad thing, per se, unless you are in the business of selling bikes to bike nerds who used to think they needed the latest/greatest every year. FWIW, this has also happened in the moto, snowmobile, ski, road bike etc world, too...

7/1/2024 8:40pm I know. Why don't you start Vital EebMTB? Or VitalMoped as Bizutch would probably call it. I'm a retired mountain biker. I liked to pedal. I've probably been farther and longer by leg power than you'll ever go on an e-bike. I'm sidelined due to Multiple Sclerosis and I have friends in high places who have offered me free mopeds and I've gratefully declined every time. If VitalMTB turns into VitalMoped I guess I'll have to retire from my position as a Mod and regular user here too. I really hope that never has to happen as I dearly love...

7/1/2024 7:50pm The Xynotol excels in hardpack and rocky conditions due to it's short and tighter packed center tread. If you have very dry blown out loose dirt conditions then it will lock much much faster in a straight line than a Kryptotal Re. This of course can be fixed with more front braking. I think it is worth running the Xynotol...

6/30/2024 9:49pm My favourite tyre combo at the moment (been on this combo for a yr or so) is WTB Judge Tough/High Grip 29x2.4 front and WTB Trail Boss 29x2.4 Tough/Fast Rolling on the rear. Local riding consists of hardpack/loose (coarse sand) over hard interspersed with granite rocks/boulders and the odd root sections

6/30/2024 12:00pm Nothing useful to add, just felt like commenting on how "fun" it is to keep myself and the family happy with their tires in the midst of our annual month of Whistler bike park riding. Oh, and it's been raining too. FWIW, I'm running a Delium Versatile reinforced on the rear with cushcore and 23lbs, my 130lb14 year old son is tubeless fresh DHR II MT DH and I'm afraid to put the pressure gauge on it, he says 35 and he's hearing rim dings and not bringing his whips back. His FR541 is still true and dent free, I...

6/30/2024 9:58am I just swapped the Code Stealths that came on my new bike for Cura 4s. I thought I would just run the Codes - how bad can it really be. I tried different pads and the braking power is just not enough for me at 72kg with 200mm discs on long descents. On the second half of longer alpine trails I just had to pull the brakes as hard as I can before every corner and it made precise corner entry impossible. The worst is when you pull the brakes hard, they slightly fade and then when the front wheel...

6/30/2024 9:33am If you like the rolling speed of Aggressor then the Continental Xynotol could be a good alternative. I have the Aggressor DD 2.5WT and Xynotol in Enduro Soft. Both roll similarly fast. The straight line braking between both tires on loose dirt is similar with predictable drifting. The side knobs on Xyno hook up better overall from my back to...

6/29/2024 9:04am We should swap fronts on a shuttle day since we have the same wheels and see what the control difference is between the Kryp-F SS and the Argo-SS and compare notes soon

6/28/2024 10:18pm I ran a set of Xynotal from and back in DH casing for the Mt. 7 Psychosis DH this past weekend and really happy with them. Coming from North Van where we usually run soft sticky tires for wet roots I went with the Xynotal in soft as a dry conditions tire. They roll fast and don't feel like a draggy DH tire. Before racing the DH on them I put in two back to back 1200m climbing days on the tires and happy with their fast rolling and decent weight. Was running too low a pressure for the first...

6/28/2024 10:20pm I've been running the Argotal SS DH this year and it is great on the occasional hardpack. The tire is very square due to the tall side knobs but once you roll it over it don't squirm much and is very stable. The grip in loose dirt, shale/scree and loam is just mind blowing. Highly recommend! Edit: whoops! Noticed the...

6/28/2024 10:10pm Looks clunky enough to have a battery. Does seem to have something resembling a cable outer port behind the mounting bolt... Making it mechanical would be the easiest way to make it cheaper. Make the cable pull ratios the same as eagle and you can use the old shifters. And if you want to have the slow shifting to not rush the cassette, use a 1x click shifter that was available for ebikes in the Eagle days.

6/27/2024 10:13pm Doesn't have to be S tier build to have proprietary suspension. Take the Trek Supercaliber or Specialized Epic WC for example. They just omit the kashima coating and fancy components on cheaper builds. Regardless, less stoked to hear that Specialized might be going back to proprietary suspension. It is highly unlikely that Fox is releasing another shock in their newly...
