I guess with DNIS brakes you skip steps 2 & 3 and go straight to neglect?

I've went through a few fronts on my trail bike including Specialized Ground Control T7, XR4 Team Issue 2.4, Onza Ibex, Specialized Purgatory T9 & currently Schwalbe Tacky Chan UltraSoft Super Ground GC, is not great. It's no faster than other options with worse traction. The Ibex is just, so fast. But not quite enough traction as it wears even slightly. If speed is the primary concern and you don't mind replacing often (before you even see wear), this is your tire. If you are on the GC, switch to the Ibex. It's crazy how AM it looks, yet XC...

Pretty sure these builds exist to outfit bike parks with their rental fleet for the year.

No but I’m eyeing those for my next set of faster trail tires. Report back if you get some. I was going to pick grid trail T7 for the rear and a T9 grid for front.

Push are kinda boneheads. My friend got into it with them at the Sea Otter because they didn’t do a dynamic bushing in their inverted fork. They claimed it makes no difference and yet it binds up pretty badly when you lightly load it in torsion. (It’s a noodle torsionally too because it’s inverted)

I wish Specialized would confirm if they have special casings and rubber just for the Cannibal. I haven't ridden them, but everyone mentions they are stickier and tougher casing than a Grid Gravity Butcher/Eliminator T9. Would make sense- Cannibal for DH and EDR racing, other Grid Gravity tires (Butcher/Eliminator) for normal people enduro riding.

Has anyone run the Specialized Purgatory Grid Trail T9's ? I've been on the Cannibals F+R for both DH & Trail bike for the last year, and it's just an incredible tire. I'm leaving the rooty loamy PNW for the sandy hardpack High Sierras and may need a new tire. I feel like the Cannibal will be a boat anchor...

Why does DMR continue to win these shootouts? I'll just say it....DMR pedals are garbage and I've got no fewer than 3 clapped out sets to prove it. They cost a fortune and only last for only a couple weeks before they start feeling/sounding terrible. Composite pedals from OneUp or PNW feel better, last longer and cost a fraction of the price of any pedal in this shootout.

Thanks Sspomer, Has anyone noticed a real change recently from open mindedly discussing/presenting rumours and innovations, to endless posts about "opinions as facts" on the topics? Maybe its just me, but I felt like this thread used to be more open to ideas, and just seeing cool things, and I'd like a return to that. These new things arent for everyone, and not every product is meant to be the perfect fit for everyone, which is friggin great, we should want diversity in the marketplace, shouldnt we? I feel like we have strayed from that recently.....

continue chainstay length discussions HERE as to not drown the tech rumors out https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/The-Hub,2/The-Internet-Was-Wrong-Short-… started in 2016, @jeff.brines ' "short chainstays suck" thread can live on.

It's not proprietary per say, however the long, sad road of specialized suspension made for their bikes has many bikes in the world left useless. I currently have two 10 year old S-works bikes that used their forks from 10 years ago that need lower cups that no longer exist to put on a reg fork and there are only a few service places that seem to be able to service them. Specialized isn't in it alone, Cannondale and Trek are both in the same boat with specialized shocks, but all these special shocks that only they use are usually...

S Curves. Progress still happens even near the top of the S curve, but it's like watching yourself age as you brush your teeth every morning. Day to day, you're seeing the same face in the mirror. Year to year... probably still pretty much seeing the same face. But jump 4-5 years, you've changed. Compare 2019 to 2024, taking the rise of the e-bike out of the picture, we're riding bikes that are yet longer and lower and slacker, steeper seat tubes, bigger brakes, often with some combination of better electronic shifting, high pivots, chain growth defeating tech, etc, etc...

Just saw on the PB article that there’s no routing option for a cable drive train on the new stumpy. What the fuck is wrong with these people.

I haven’t been thrilled with my time on a mid travel 29er, and despite my enduring hope that keeps me reading this forum, i can’t imagine that any tweak of geometry or suspension or material science is going to shift that sense of meh. My 2020 frame doesn’t even need new bearings yet. Mark off another year of hoping that the playbike category comes back.
