I think it’s down to micro-patterns in the surfaces of machined alloy. Composites are all notably more slippery when covered with a bit of mud. The grip is of course mostly provided by the pins, but when you have a bit of mud buildup, the shoes also contact parts of the pedal body (especially if the foot comes down in the not ideal spot on the pedal), and then that slipperiness makes itself felt. That’s been my experience across a wide range of composites at least.

Haha thanks for the reply! Not sure what inspired me to actually leave that comment instead of just moving on. You guys do a great job with these shootouts in general, including this one, I just haven't had a good experience with the DMR's. Since we're here, why don't the composites work well in the wet? Pins aside, I would expect them to have better grip than the polished surface of, say, a DMR, no?

Why does DMR continue to win these shootouts? I'll just say it....DMR pedals are garbage and I've got no fewer than 3 clapped out sets to prove it. They cost a fortune and only last for only a couple weeks before they start feeling/sounding terrible. Composite pedals from OneUp or PNW feel better, last longer and cost a fraction of the price of any pedal in this shootout.

I'm way more pumped on video projects like this that result in a usable trail for other people, as opposed to one-off spectacles that either get bulldozed when they're done or just slowly erode and covered with weeds in the middle of nowhere.

Our sport has had a massive influx in the last couple of years. More riders, more money, more media attention and as a byproduct more trails. Overall I think this is a good thing. More MTB specific trails are great, especially single direction MTB trails. But there has also been a trend in the last few years to make the most bland, boring repetitive trails when it comes to building something new. Part of this seems to be legit trail building operations getting their hands on power tools. Where once you had to build your trail to work with the...

Racing this track nearly a decade ago was one of the reasons I hung up my helmet and sold my DH bike. Sad to see the horrendously slow, flat sections and momentum killing switchbacks are still in existence.. This is not DH. This is a blown out enduro track at best. Just my humble opinion.

The problem is that if he races any suspension would start effective with his last race... So, if WADA announced a 1 year suspension, it would start with the EWS finals last year.. But, at the pace WADA moves at, Richie could race and possibly be retired by the time a penalty is announced...
