8/26/2024 7:44pm I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. I can only assume with increased users and engagement, which has brought along with it, a much more negative and judgy tone. I was drawn to this comment section for the rumours and innovation (and spy shots, and great info from the likes or TEAMROBOT, Cascade, Dave, and many others) but I find myself turned off by the...

8/20/2024 9:14pm I think you just figured it all out! Those buttons on Loic's bike spray water against the shock to cool it down, just like the intercooler sprayer on an old WRX STI. Brilliant!

8/19/2024 7:30am The damper is pretty consistent. Damper fluid is designed to have consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures… that is the whole reason to have a special oil. Plus the fact that shim valves aren’t terribly sensitive to viscosity in the first place. I’ve run these experiments on a dyno FYI- small % changes at most. Air springs on the other hand gain noticeable pressure when hot. I’m always a bit skeptical when someone complains about their coil shock becoming a pogo stick due to heat. More than likely it’s you and your (weak, non-world cup) legs getting fatigued...

8/19/2024 7:27am There are lots of braking related products that don't have any weird spelling if that makes the products better in your opinion. There are even Chinese options with "normal, English" spelling...

8/17/2024 6:37pm I am also say they sound exactly as you described on the real steep stuff. That's with Maxima and Power+ pads. I am testing out Hope racing green pads with the Maxima so let's see how it goes. Looking at the pad material it looks identical to power+, is locally available and only $25 CAD per set.

8/16/2024 8:46pm So we're all correct, it is a yeti/pivot/evil. Just a Chinese knock-off version. *this is a joke, I don't want another lewis v trickstuff argument.

8/14/2024 1:30pm I guess we'll have to start a specific "Rumour gets posted, converse about the rumor below" thread each time someone post a new one. Here we'll just post the rumor itself and no one will reply to it so we make everyone happy.

8/14/2024 10:51am Maybe someone could make a thread specifically for tech rumors so we don't derail this suspension kinematic thread?

8/14/2024 10:49am For RockShox, the list of available tunes is available on the shock's service page. For instance here's the Vivid Ultimate: https://www.sram.com/en/service/models/rs-vivd-ult-c1 You can find the shim layouts in the tuning guide: https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/tuning-manuals/roc… For Fox, you can find similar info on the shock's parts & drawings page. For instance here's the Float X2: https://tech.ridefox.com/bike/parts-drawings/2863/float-x2-part-informa…

8/14/2024 6:18am please enlighten me what‘s so hard in discussing those topics in a dedicated thread which i‘m sure will be greatly frequented? damping vs. springrate vs. leverage ratio isn‘t news at all. i (and i guess most) come here for news and rumors about new tech and don‘t want to scroll through pages full of tech talk that isn‘t rumors!

8/14/2024 6:18am can we please get back to rumors and stop the compression, damping and leverage ratio talk in here. pretty sure there must be a nerding out on suspension thread in here somewhere 😊 THX!!!

8/13/2024 9:02pm I'm with you. I bought an over stroked Vivid that was tuned specific for my new bike and it was a totally different tune than what came stock. I know not apples to apples, it's a Decoy 29 vs Decoy, but I can't imagine the kinematics are all that different, although the tunes (stock) R55/C26 vs R25/C34 seem as though they should be different? I really have NOOOO idea but I would like to. At the very least if I'm spending all this money I want to get the best out of it but also I care enough to know...

8/12/2024 9:19pm I hate how much tires cost and will complain every time I have to buy new ones, BUT, the reality is, when we're paying $130-150(cad) per tire, it would be like buying Michelin Cup 2 R's or or BFG Baja T/A KR3. Those are super high performance tires that are $1000+ each and made for Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. And let's be honest, in the world of bikes, most of us are riding Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. I still hate that we have to spend $130+ on tires.
