4/11/2026 6:14am Ya know, I'm changing my tune about 32" wheels. I don't really have all that much interest in owning a 32" bike, and I fully expect most, if not all of the first 32" bikes to not be in my wheelhouse... But right now, I'd kill for anything that isn't related to an ebike to read about. Never before have I yearned to digest some bike stuff that just involved the measly 250w that I struggle to put out. So... bring on the 32" content please, I am primed and ready for it.

4/8/2026 12:09am Really interesting to see the travel overlap between the Lyrik and Zeb at 150, 160, and 170mm. I'm curious to see some back to back comparison at the same travel options (if that's planned).

4/3/2026 7:42am In regard to front axles and stiffness of inverted forks, the angular deflection of a shaft is defined as θ=(T*L)/(J*G). The key variables for axles are J (polar moment of inertia since we're talking about circles) and G (shear modulus of the material). J for a circular cross section is J(r1,r2)=(π*((r1^4)-(r2^4)))/2 where r1 is the OD and r2 is the ID (zero if solid). As for G, the shear modulus of steel is approximately 3x that of aluminum. Now for a comparison between 15 and 20 mm axles... Lets say we have a solid 15 mm axle and want to...

4/3/2026 7:39am Well, opinions are like (you get the drift...) so take mine with a grain of salt. I think longer travel bikes are a better platform for comparing shock performance then shorter travel in general. As far as the nomad goes, the frame construction is well sorted to ensure no side loading of the shock and it does not change feel with a difference in shock construction (ie 10mm shock shaft vs 15-18mm, think previous gen to current gen dhx2). It has a middle of the road (moderate) amount of frame progressivity (linear progressive) and a rather middle of the road...

3/28/2026 8:01am Unfortunately I'm an idiot, so I'll answer your question even if it is sarcastic. I found a known value that's easy to measure, the rear brake rotor. I set it to 203mm (as mentioned in a bike check from my memory) 16.2cm = 6.377 inch, rounded up however the app used rounds things and also not a perfect angle. Closest match for phone size would be a Iphone 16/17 pro max at 16.3 cm or a google pixel 9/10 at 6.3 inches. I'm going to go with the iphone 16/17 pro max. I should touch grass. I'm also either going...

3/25/2026 2:48pm Not sure how it's done in North America or even other places in Europe, but at least here in Slovenia ski resorts aren't the owners of the land under the groomed slopes. So this is a major problem making bike parks, agreeing on land access. Grooming snow on a meadow is a whole different ballpark than making dirt canals in said meadow, doubly so when cows graze there in the summer. As for ski resorts vs. bike park, skiing on-piste and riding bikes in a bike park aren't really analogues. When you take into account how technically demanding skiing is...

3/22/2026 2:22am lol kinda, 6’6” wingspan. Even on my Madonna I feel like I’m cramped. A buddy of mine had the new v10 in an XL and when I sat on it, I felt like it wasn’t big enough. Was going to get an XL Summum, but swayed by the new Vessel and am working with Jack to come up with some custom geo that should fit like a glove. When I was racing in my 20’s I could care less about this stuff but now being in my 40’s and getting back into racing it matters a lot more.

3/22/2026 2:14am Frame storage DOES add weight. A tube is a pretty amazing piece of a construction element. Lightand stiff in multiple directions, in torsion and bending, bending left and right AND up and down. The problem is the moment you cut into it, while a small hole won't really affect things that much, a long slit will though, you're breaking all of it. So to make a downtube with a big hole cut into it to be able to fit things inside of it, you need to add a lot of material around the rim to bring back the stiffness. A...

3/22/2026 2:14am I know this is dangerously close to a chainstay derail, but I love that Forbidden made a 120mm bike with a 464mm chainstay in the XL size. That's real long, but if you don't like it you can buy literally any other XL lightweight 120mm bike. Curious how it rides. Could be sick. [Editor's note: I THINK THIS COUNTS AS AN INNOVATION]

3/20/2026 9:02am Russia engages in hybrid warfare against the west since at least two decades. And its very effective (energy, culture war, NATO). China isn't so much about culture war stuff but more about classic economical espionage and protectionist economy politics. Its more subtle than russia but very effective, especially in developing countries and in the terms of trade routes.

3/12/2026 3:57pm There’s a massive difference between a small builder and a micro brand sourcing rebranded bikes from overseas. I’ve seen loads of the latter, wouldn’t waste my time. Of the small builders, most will stand behind their product but that doesn’t always mean a fast turnaround.

3/1/2026 11:56am +1 appreciating Dario here. He may not be right all the time, but he’s not taking it TOO seriously either. He is not polished and seems more relatable than your average presenter. Plus he IS younger than many, which gives him an opportunity (that he apparently uses) to think less of money/career and more of staying true to the current...

3/1/2026 11:51am Spoken like a boomer core lord. That’s what the viral forums seem to have become though. Dario is actually a breath of fresh air in mountain bike media, same as Jason. His perspective is a welcome change from the usual safe, generic industry takes the rest of the media recycles time and time again.

2/28/2026 11:03am So this is kind of hilarious to me because forbidden just ships a pile of parts along with a frame that isn't even put together. Having built/QC checked a lot of bikes from Transition, Ibis, Cannondale, Orbea, and Forbidden I can honestly say that the QC on the Forbidden frames are absolutely stellar, on par with Ibis carbon (Ibis alloy leaves a lot to be desired). Unfortunately, with bike brands that ship just frame and parts end up leaving a lot of their bikes "QC" impression on the skills of the builder building the bike. If your headset creeks, or...

2/28/2026 10:35am The thing is, I'm not sure they are releasing "duds" per say. In my main riding group, about 1/3rd of people are on current gen Epics. I also see a large number of SJ15s around the trails, too. And then when I start counting e-bikes, Specialized is the brand I see the most of at my local trails. Even when I traveled to bike recently, saw some more SJ15s and a Levo. Edit: when I was back visiting my parents last month, I saw a group ride with 8 people and to my recollection, all but 2 were on Epics...

2/28/2026 10:34am 1) they see themselves as a technology/consumer electronics company now. When they brought in a Dyson guy to the c-level I knew we were going to see a different speci. 2) they’re way more conservative. Sinyard is older, economic pressures intensified, and the types of people who work there are dramatically different than 10 years ago. This is all mostly for the better but eventually you start to feel a lack of life from the bikes. I used to really want speci to become a more relevant and saavy company, but now that they are I realized how much funky...
