Yes, but I think other people in this thread have clearly explained why those efficiencies don't offer any unique benefits to high pivot, gearbox, or idler-based designs. Yes, electronics would make high pivot, gearbox, and idler-based bikes more efficient, but at the same time they'd be making all the other bikes more efficient, too. If Dave has four apples and Lisa has six apples, and you give them both four apples, Lisa still has more apples than Dave. Now, I guess if you're saying that electronic lockouts give them both the equivalent of 100 additional apples, then I would concede...

I’m going to buy a simple basic FW and then spend the price difference on riding lessons and fitness.

I felt the answer about the price was a little weird. They're not trying to recoup any costs, so they're implying it's a construction/materials thing that makes the price. Again, 350s on a bike of that price doesn't sound like it's a spec choice, and hearing that price isn't a reflection of R&D just makes it raise the question further; Where on earth is this price coming from if NOT R&D and pro-team economics? It certainly isn't the spec. Loved the video otherwise, thanks a ton Jason.

Without looking at any numbers for it, I'd assume the link primarily gets used to control leverage curve and the dog bone primarily gets used to correct geo. You may very well have combos where the alterations to the link would produce undesirable geo on their own so a dog bone has to be used with it to get the geo right.

I actually really like riding loose over hard. It’s majority of my summer and fall riding season. I love a good 2 wheel drift session. The Assegai has scared me a few times though.

I’m very scared of a dhf on the front. Pretyfun as a back tire though.

I hated the Assegai. It would inconsistently wash a couple inches to the outside mid turn when leaned over. It made it hard for me to commit to weighting the front end. On the same trails I've never had that happen with a DHF, Magic Mary, or Tacky Chan. I don't have an issue with tires with a big channel like the DHF. I want a tire to be consistent and the Assegai was not.

I hate assegai, absolutely no confidence at all in this. Butcher, Argotal (in proper casing etc.) are for now the best front tyres I tried.

Torrent is clean. Bottle rocket is adjustable freeride. Quake is a capable race geo. (Iirc) Different bikes for different folks . I freeride and park my race bikes - and xc ride my enduro bike. But the world does seem to want FUN 27.5 park bikes and the racers do seem to want FAST DH WEAPONS. Why can’t we have both? The marketing isn’t even for us. There are literally armies of 15 year old boys AND GIRLS! Getting really into modern freeride, just riding down shit and off shit and being park rats in jnco jeans where I live...

The Torrent isn't for bike nerds. It's for people that set it and forget it and spend their day lapping A-Line and Dirt Merchant. And for that purpose, the Torrent sounds like a perfect bike. Simple, reliable (hopefully) and affordable.

Not trying to be argumentative but I do completely disagree with that first point. Quake... MAYBE, but anybody wanting to race I think will look elsewhere. The bottlerocket is blatantly marketed as not a race bike. I guess the status DH isn't talked about but I think its a sleeper sick bike. Maybe because there's one at my LBS that's for sale for 3k out the door. The industry needs as many cheap aluminum double crown bikes as it can handle. Bike park laps on these types of bikes is in my opinion the purest form of the sport. Just...
