Few broad (highly speculative) thoughts as it pertains to Santa Cruz. First, I think its a bit of a fool's errand to say a brand is no longer "core" because they've grown or a more affluent buyer all of a sudden has taken interest. Yeah, maybe its a little bit of a sell-out type of thing to see 52 year old dentists driving Sprinter vans owning your product, but my Brother in Christ, this is capitalism. This will hopefully live long as one of the best pieces of journalism our sport has ever produced, right up there with Mike Ferrentino and Steve Jones’ best. Olly and Davi were incredibly well prepared, and so gentle, engaging, and patient, all at the same time. They should be proud of their side of the work here. But obviously Rob’s candor and vulnerability was the biggest takeaway. Hundreds of thousands of words and opinions have already been shared about what we all lost when WB/D took over the broadcasting of World Cup mountain biking, and Rob is top of that...

To me it's not just something that seems missing, but also seems very weird that it's not happening. The argument that gravity events do not draw the right exposure is a red herring, too. My son's little leage team - a bunch of 8 year old miscreants, some of whom do not even want to be there, let alone play in front of crowd totalling 12 parents and one umpire receives 10k from a LOCAL home depot .. and then there are others who only ask that a cardboard sign held by two metal wires be put up at games...

The admittedly unclear implication was that “we” derailed the thread and I neither endorsed unsanctioned trails nor demonized them. I just gave us a new place to argue about it. I am keenly aware of and sensitive to the potential for unsanctioned trails to impact legal access. Would love to see Mark Wallace get at least a Single year contract with Forbidden bikes for 2024. He lives on the island and rides with Magnus Manson often so it would be a decent fit. M agnus I don't think is ready for a world cup season yet due to his health issues so technically there's a spot on the DH team roster.
