The motor brands are all much larger and much better funded than the bike brands. So to some degree the ebike market is becoming an emotor market. Arguably the bike brands are riding that wave.

Curmudgeon moment incoming, my apologies: This is exactly the reason I don't give a shit about motocross or cars or a million other things. I 100% don't give a shit about numbers. "Oh, but this one can do 150nm of power!" Cool. I don't care. I don't ride a bike looking for the easiest way to do anything. Does it do 150nm of making my will to live stronger? Will it do a 30-second boost mode of shutting my brain off? Is it 1300W of power that'll die in a year and completely brick the bike for two months while...

I probably haven’t been up Cypress in 15 years and of all the days to randomly go up there to teach my son to drive stick in the parking lot…. lol

Shiny new tech stored in the filing cabinet! https://orangebikes.com/pages/phase-avinox-model (Still love my Stage 6, regardless of what the internetz tell me about it 😄)

Another vote for work pants Red Cap, Dickies whatever they just work and they last. I'll roll mine up to just below the knee if a ride starts cold and then gets warmer. I've also used stretchy jeans or pants from Levi's and Lee's and they felt great but didn't last as long. Running knee pads under either options is...

$26 at Walmart the last time I bought a pair. I like them, except I seem to always poke holes in pocket liners. And Levi's 514 stretchy jeans for colder months.

I ride in a pair of dickies skate pants. I can't bring myself to shell out the cash needed for a pair of decent riding pants when almost none of them have zippered hand pockets to keep your phone and keys. They’re also all way too tight.

I bought a few pairs of Target golf pants when they were on a massive sale. They're too tight to be casual wear for me but they're some sort of tech fabric and are good for Spring and Fall riding. Golf shirts from thrift shops make good jerseys too. I'm not a golfer, nor a fan, but the clothes work for riding.

It was Silhouette Eyeware. My friend Joey used to do their add work and team stuff. I got to do a show for the opening of their new corporate headquarters in New York with Hans Rey, Cam McCall, Geoff Gullivich and Garen Becker.

I've said this elsewhere, but for the anti-32 crowd...it's well understood that geometry is the single most important aspect of bike fit and function. Wheel diameter is the geometry of wheels.

> Maybe more "adventure" style trails where you take the lift up, get to experience the alpine, and then do a 70/30 descend/climb ratio trail that takes a super long time to get down to the bottom - bike parks generally don't have this as an option, and I think it would appeal to two untapped markets for bike parks - XC yuppies and ebikers. That's exactly how it's done in France/Italy/Switzerland. I'm surprised to see it's not very common in (my limited exploration of) US bike parks.

I think just people are less value oriented than they were 10-20 years ago in general (especially in the outdoor sports world) and giant always did a good job of catering to the I just want something affordable that works crowd. The more trendy and/or dtc brands discounting have also cut into that value proposition. I’d kind of like them to focus on that sub 1000 hardtail (with decent parts) categories for kids, teens, young adults. I think they are one of a few brands who could really change that market for the better with their scale.
