Could we get a wheel count? Tally of how many wheel rebuilds by the teams/riders over the weekend, there looks to be a lot of random rocks around the course, definitely not as brutal as fort bill, but it's always fun to hear how many bike parts a pro burns through in a weekend.
I'd be curious to know if there's anything unique about the Whistler track and if there is then what are the teams doing in terms of kit or setup to account for this.

That rock garden will be THE busiest and best spot to spectate. The crowd there will be mental. It's roughly half way down the track. If you have a lift ticket, walk down the access trails or bushwhack down the B Zone from the top of the Gondola. If you're walking down the access trails, the trail goes very close to, but not directly by this spot. If you're bushwhacking down the B Zone, you'll end up right there. Either way it's hard to miss.
If you're walking up from the bottom, follow the access trails up from the finish line. The access trails cross the race track twice in the bottom third of the track. After the second crossing as you travel uphill, the access trail goes away from the side of the track for a handful of very steep switchbacks. When the access trail goes back to beside the course, you're right below the rock garden. It's quite a hike up from the bottom, especially if you're starting all the way in the valley and not from the finish line. I'd give myself about an hour to get there from the valley, and about 30 minutes to get there from the finish line. Bring food and drink. It's in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks dude! I paid for the parking in the creek side garage which gets us a free lift up to the finish. Taking my seven year old son up there with me and a friend. My kids down for a good bushwhack. Plan on brining tons of food, ear plugs and go nuts. So fucking stoked!

That wasn’t rain. On the west coast if it doesn’t wake you up it doesn’t count. It’s been so dry up here that it’ll get soaked into the dirt. Roots and rocks will be greasy until they dry out

If the forecast holds: It will be quite wet Friday -- and cold! Could be some flakes up top Saturday morning. Temps at the top will be below freezing--Sunday morning for sure. Given the moisture on Friday and temps, it's almost a foregone conclusion the roots/rocks will be wet all day Saturday with some drying into Sunday. Still think it will be slick on the upper half Sunday. Should make for good racing.
